Old NY ~ Communist USA ~ Stuffed Strawberries ~ Stuffed Cod/Pot Stickers/Peas

Good 36º frost on the barn roof again morning.

Goodness, yesterday started out cold (35º) and stayed at 70º and under all day. Really nice!

Carolyn Taylor (Mrs. Ollie~) sent this... amazing NY City photos from archives recently released. (Joan... I thought you'd really enjoy these! I wanna go back!!!)
So.... this pastor from an Orange County church was in Washington DC recently and stopped to pray in front of the White House ............AND GOT ARRESTED!!!!!!! My friend Judy Duvall knows him. IS THIS FU**ING Communist Russia???
OMG, this frightens me, a lot!

Anniversaries today include Wilsonite Kathy (O'Brien) and Don Forsythe...

<Kathy!!!

and LASD ret. Pat Reardon and his love Alice. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY kids!

And a special birthday... Jack Elliott (ret LASD) and hubby of Gracie (Lesser .. jewelry fame and LASD). HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!!!

And our own Sal Esquivel, Oregon State Rep.. Republican...Medford. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAL!
Here is Sal working hard, as usual, with his wife Jan (our JCRW past pres.)

Historically this date...
1536Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII of England, is beheaded for adultery, treason, and incest.
1921 – The U.S. Congress passes the Emergency Quota Act establishing national quotas on immigration.
......how much good does that do? we're still giving perks, social security, and tax relief to illegals! Grrrrrrrrrrrr
1950 – A barge containing munitions destined for Pakistan explodes in the harbor at South Amboy, New Jersey, devastating the city.
1962 – A birthday salute to U.S. President John F. Kennedy takes place at Madison Square Garden, New York City. The highlight is Marilyn Monroe's rendition of "Happy Birthday".
1986 – The Firearm Owners Protection Act is signed into law by U.S. President Ronald Reagan.
**** One of the law's provisions was that persons traveling from one place to another cannot be incarcerated for a firearms offense in a state that has strict gun control laws if the traveler is just passing through (short stops for food and gas) and the firearms and ammunition are not immediately accessible, unloaded and, in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment, in a locked container.
An example of this would be that someone driving from Virginia to a competition in Vermont with a locked hard case containing an unloaded handgun and a box of ammunition in the trunk could not be prosecuted in New Jersey or New York City for illegal possession of a handgun provided that they did not stop in New Jersey or New York for an extended period of time.
However Washington D.C., New York, New Jersey, and several other states routinely ignore this provision; arresting, prosecuting, and imprisoning travelers who are complying with this federal law

And births this date include...
1925Malcolm X, American civil rights activist (d. 1965)
1935David Hartman, American actor and television personality
1939 – Francis Richard 'Dick' Scobee, American astronaut (d. 1986)
1949 – Archie Manning, American football player
.... father of Peyton and the arrogant Eli!
1959Nicole Brown Simpson, American murder victim (d. 1994)
1973Dario Franchitti, Scottish race car driver

Now, try and not drool over these.....

1. Rinse strawberries and cut around the top of the strawberry. Remove the top and clean out with a paring knife, if necessary (some of them are hollow already. Prep all of the strawberries and set aside.
2. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add cream cheese mix to a piping bag or Ziploc with the corner snipped off. Fill the strawberries with cheesecake mixture.
3. Once strawberries are filled, sprinkle or dip the tops with graham cracker crumbs. If not serving immediately, refrigerate until serving.
Dinner last night was veggie pot-stickers, Omaha Steaks cod stuffed with crab and scallops, on a bed of peas.

All I know. Nuff said. Got gas for the mower yesterday and WILL mow today! Happy Saturday. Ciao.

S,
Oh the Omaha stuffed cod is one of my favorite of theirs. That plate looks so yummy!

No time to think about food. On my way to a class that trains us to be polling place observers. Gotta TRY to keep this election honest!
