Willie ~ Artichoke & Quinoa Side ~ Crabs

Good 41º raining morning! See, only $8 and it rains! So far looks like we've gotten 1/4". Not bad. The brainstorming weather guys on the news pointed to all the radar and said it was staying south of us and it was going to be dry through the weekend. LOL

So much for their Meteorology educations!
They could have asked me, I was talking to Jeannie on the phone late yesterday afternoon and told her it was going to rain, not only did I have a clean truck but my joints in my hands were hurting. A sure sign!

Cyndi Moreno sent this with the statement ...

"It's hard to believe Willie Nelson ever looked this way"...

Thanks Cyndi. Interesting. Willie was a handsome young man, played football in high school, joined the Air Force, a song writer and poet. BUT.... ya gotta say that heavy smoking and marijuana use has added to his overly scruffy and aged looks! After his arrest for possession of marijuana in 2010, Nelson created the TeaPot party under the motto "Tax it, regulate it and legalize it!". He is a huge advocate and activist for marijuana use

Nelson lives in Maui, Hawaii, in a largely self-sustaining community where all the homes use only solar power. Neighbors include Kris Kristofferson, Woody Harrelson, and Owen Wilson.

Willie Nelson has married four times and fathered seven children. His first marriage was to Martha Matthews; it lasted from 1952 to 1962, and produced three children: Lana, Susie, and Billy. The last committed suicide in 1991. The marriage was marked by violence, with Matthews assaulting Nelson several times. Nelson's next marriage was to Shirley Collie in 1963. The couple divorced in 1971, after Collie found a bill from the maternity ward of a Houston hospital charged to Nelson and Connie Koepke for the birth of Paula Carlene Nelson. Koepke and Nelson married the same year and had two daughters, Paula Carlene and Amy Lee. Following a divorce in 1988, he married his current wife, Annie D'Angelo, in 1991. They have two sons, Lukas Autry and Jacob Micah.

Dinner: Artichoke & Quinoa Side

First I cooked the artichoke in water with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, and sea salt. Then I cooked the Sprouted Rice & Quinoa Blend along with some Red Sticky Rice in the rice cooker with the water from the cooked artichoke. I drained and rinsed the black beans, drained the olives and mushrooms, and heated the bacon and chopped it. To the cooked quinoa/rice mixture I added the rest of the ingredients along with some Simply Asian spices, stirred well, and kept warm in a covered oven proof dish in the oven.

OUTSTANDING! The quinoa lends to adding anything to it that flips your skirt. I am now going to look for 'red quinoa' and 'black quinoa' ... maybe at Gooseberries health food store.

This is too funny! Thanks to Tim Dowling (LASD Lkd) for this.

Glad you enjoyed the article on Willie Nelson. I was
shocked that he ever looked so good. Shows what
a life of drugs can do. Willie should be the poster guy
for "Say NO". Cyndi

Yes, I enjoyed the Willie Nelson article too. I saw a special once about him. In his earlier singing days he dressed in a suit and looked normal. He career just wouldn't take off until he changed to the weird look he has now. Go figure!

Poor little Gary Coleman had a sad life. His parents went thru all his money and he ended up working as a security guard. He sued them but don't know how that turned out.

Giant was one of my all time fav movies. Ohhhh Liz and Rock made a gorgeous couple!

Have a good one!

p.s.Oh that artichok meal looks heavenly!
