Super Bowl Facts ~ Deer ~ Feral Kitty ~ Taquitos

Good 27º morning. Just like when I was in Greece.... hot tea with lemon and tomatoes for breakfast!

Super Bowl Sunday!
Super Bowl XLVI is an American football game between the American Football Conference (AFC) champion New England Patriots and the National Football Conference (NFC) champion New York Giants to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 2011 season. It will be the 46th annual championship game of the modern-era NFL and is scheduled to be played Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kickoff time is scheduled for approximately 6:30 p.m. EST. This will be the first Super Bowl to be played in Indianapolis, and the first time in the history of the game it will be played in consecutive years in a retractable roof stadium. This will also be only the fourth time that the Super Bowl is played in a cold-weather city, after Detroit's hosting of XVI and XL as well as Minneapolis's hosting of XXVI.

Per convention as an even-numbered Super Bowl, the Patriots as the AFC representatives will have the home team designation. Super Bowl XLVI will be the sixth Super Bowl in which the two teams had competed in a previous Super Bowl match up, as the Giants and Patriots had previously met in Super Bowl XLII. Both head coaches (Tom Coughlin and Bill Belichick) and both starting quarterbacks (Eli Manning and Tom Brady) return from Super Bowl XLII.

GO PATRIOTS!

Ben Hunt sent this.... It will put a smile on your face for sure.... this pup LOVES the snow!http://www.dogwork.com/dogsnow/

So......... I go out in the backyard and am crushing and tossing some old crackers that were in the cupboard too long and I see this deer on the other side of the fence on neighbors land. I said, "Hi baby. Hello pretty girl." She jumped the fence and came right over! OMG, so precious. She is not the older doe she is one of the doe's babies from last year. She likes crackers!

Yesterday was 'cooking day'. I made taquitos (77 of them to be exact!) and a crab pie to take to Brian's today for the game. He's hosting a big gathering. He has 8 TV's .... one in just about every room in the house. I recall one SB Party he hosted when he lived in San Gabriel ... He had TV's everywhere... living room, bedroom, kitchen, garage, and patio. I went into the bathroom and there was a TV on a TV tray in the bathtub! Never miss a play!

So, back to the taquitos....

I will serve them with fresh guacamole, Mexican sour cream

, and grated cheese. Ritz Crackers and Garlic Triscuits for the crab pie.

The little black and white feral cat is getting less scared of me. I call him "BC" for 'black cat'!  I have put food and water in the bed of my golf cart and yesterday he actually came up while I was outside and 'mewed' at me! I came inside and took his picture through the slider door...

Maggs and I took the trash down to the road and took a couple pictures on the way back...

Today is a special young man's birthday.. my friends Olga and Jimmy's son Michael turns 12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL!

Michael with his little brother Aidan.

Historically this date...
1917 – The Congress of the United States passes the Immigration Act of 1917 over President Woodrow Wilson's veto. Also known as the Asiatic Barred Zone Act, it forbade immigration from nearly all of south and southeast Asia.

............click on the act title...interesting text in this ....

1918Stephen W. Thompson shoots down a German airplane. It is the first aerial victory by the U.S. military.

1958 – A hydrogen bomb known as the Tybee Bomb is lost by the US Air Force off the coast of Savannah, Georgia, never to be recovered.
..................hmmmmmmmmmm, wouldn't want to go diving down there!

.........who was driving that one, Francesco Schettino?

And births this date include....
1848 – Belle Starr, American outlaw (d. 1889)

.........My God, what a life. Totally wild and out of control. Her son suspected in her murder, but never proven. Daughter was a trollop like her mother. Interesting read.

1906John Carradine, American actor (d. 1988)

Remember when we saw him, Sandy? We were coming out of the parking garage at my dental surgeon's after my wisdom teeth were 'dug out' and John was walking down Sunset Blvd in front of us! No camera! Dang.

1908 – Daisy and Violet Hilton, British conjoined twins (d. 1969) ....here's another OMG. Poor things. 60 years conjoined and a very sad death.

1919Red Buttons, American actor (d. 2006)

I loved the movie Sayonara. He got an Oscar for his roll.

1934Hank Aaron. American baseball player

1942Roger Staubach, American football player

All I know. Off to Brian's for Super Bowl. Ciao.

HAPPY PAT'S SUPER BOWL DAY!! I know you will have fun!

Beautiful feral kitty cat! Doesn't look like a wild cat at all. He looks like a well fed pet belonging to someone.

I too love Synonara! Such a sad part with Red Buttons and his Japanese wife.

Have fun!

Great write up about the Super Bowl. If we didn't know exactly what it was all about, we do now. Good job.
The feral cat is a cutie. Too bad you can't train he/she. Neat to know that he/she is trusting you.
The tacquitos look sooo good. Eat one for me, and go Patriots! Oops, can I say that??? LOL Have a fun day, no matter what room you are in. xo

@ Trish, yes he/she (I think it's a he) is feral. He hunts in the pastures. Doesn't live with any of the neighbors and sleeps in my barn. He's catching enough to keep him fed! But, now he knows where there is extra food and water. Cool.

@ Jeannie, yes you can say "Go Pats"!!! LOL. Taquitos are good and will drop off some for you. xo

The stadiums learned from Brian. A mother of a player used to try to hide in stadium bathroom when she got nervous when son was playing- then they put the TV's everywhere (proof guys are in charge.

Great lists. Can't wait to cook for husband. He's on full diet- but his usual Super Bowl request- shorthand is " heart burn.

I do remember seeing Mr. Caradine. And then driving thru the hills to see the beautiful homes.
