SS Raise! ~ Door Stop ~ LBB's ~ Friday the 13th

Good 22º non-foggy, some clouds, morning! Everything still frozen out there. Broke the ice off Maggie's water. Changed out the hummingbird feeders. She went out to pee and came back in shaking like a leaf! Looks like it had snowed!

Interesting:

How exciting, I got a $35 raise on my monthly SS! That's $420 a year. Can the BO gov'ment afford it??? Or, now are they going to raise the cost of something else?

From George Bachmeier.... fun!
Brochures for old cars. We had a 1954 DeSoto 2 door hardtop... Was a weird color though, black top with puse lower...

This car had black leather interior, and the smell made me carsick~! Daddy was thrilled because it was the first car he ever had with power steering. He'd say, "Look....I can steer with one finger!"

The LBB's are back making a nest in the birdhouse on the front porch...

We are having a big influx of Robins. I don't know that much about them, but every single day this Robin is atop the fence. Every day. Seems to like the height advantage and isn't frightened away, like most of the Robins and Finches when I go out on the porch. He's not even afraid of Maggie walking around the yard. Cool.

All I know. Marine Corps League Dinner tonight at the VFW. Happy Friday. Ciao.

Hi Sue,

Thanks for the Car Brochure website... now on my 'favorites' list.
Chrysler always tried to be on the cutting edge of technology,
design, and colors. Of course, the Big 3 went to two-tone paint
jobs in the early '50s for a decade of fun stuff.
And, yeah, your dad was right about power steering allowing
him to steer with one finger. That was cool, but just as dangerous
as having a joy-knob attached to the steering wheel. At the top
of the '60s power steering was modified to be Power Assist, so
a driver would have to use his hand to steer.... not merely a finger.
The DeSoto was a nice car. Discontinued in the early '70s, it's
rare to see one these days. In the '90s, Oakland airport had a
car rental company that featured Classic Cars... and they had
a DeSoto like the one in your pic available for rent. People used
to rent those classics for oldies but goodies parties. Your date
would wear a poodle skirt and tight sweater and you'd pick her
up in a '50s car. Great Fun !!!

(okay, back to reality now....) Stay warm!!!
