Rain. Yeah! ~ Hot Rum, Good! ~ Winnie the Pooh Day

Good 35º and raining like mad morning! See, my $8 carwash worked. Finally! Plans to go with the 'girls' to Jacksonville Friday are going to be canceled. It's more fun to go there, as Jeannie put it, when it's a nice day and we can walk around. Looks like this storm is going to hang out for a while!

OMG, it just stayed cold all day yesterday. Had a hard time warming up. Even with heaters on, it was cold. Wind started up and then DumbA** neighbor started a burn pile! DUH?? Poor Frank and Cindy were probably smoked out! Looked like this all day.....

Trevor, UPS dude, came by with my new Crock-Pot yesterday.

One quart smaller than my other one, but if you want to transport food in it, there are clamps and a gasket that will keep it from opening and spilling. Neat. (Del, you need to get one of these for Missy so when she takes her crockpot to work it won't spill in her car!!)

Had a visitor...
There was also a hawk out there, sitting on the fence, but he saw my movement in the window and flew off before I could get his picture!

FYI, the links on today's blog may not work as Wikipedia planned to shut down for the day in protest. Their statement:

Today, the Wikipedia community announced its decision to black out the English-language Wikipedia for 24 hours, worldwide, beginning at 05:00 UTC on Wednesday, January 18 (you can read the statement from the Wikimedia Foundation here). The blackout is a protest against proposed legislation in the United States — the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the U.S. House of Representatives, and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA) in the U.S. Senate — that, if passed, would seriously damage the free and open Internet, including Wikipedia.

So, if you want to read any of the links I guess you had better wait 24 hours.

Sadly I found two dead birds within the last two days. A dead Towhee was in my carport and a dead hummingbird was laying on the driveway yesterday morning ...

Both got fitting burials. :o(

All I know. Stay at home inside dry and warm day. I did make a 'hot buttered rum' yesterday. Never had one before. Good! Warm. Snuggy. I put cinnamon sticks in it instead of cloves. (Recipe at the end of yesterday's blog)

Maggie is doing good. She doesn't seem to be in any pain. Just no appetite yet.

Don't you look like a hot momma standing next to Cary Grant. How fun!
Sorry about the birds. Glad you gave them the proper burial!

It's just after 9 a.m. and I'm drooling all over the keyboard while looking at the pictures of the Peking Duck. It's at the top of my list for Chinese food with Chinese Pressed Duck tied for FIRST! There used to be a restaurant in Dowtown LA's olf produce market called Paul's who served it every Wed. with Dim Sum to use with it. OMG, heaven!

Sue,

That's the same Crockpot that Becky and family gave me for Christmas. Mine is black. Her mom brought hers to Thanksgiving loaded with a Mexican type roast that was devine! Her's was a gorgeous deep flourscent red which I loved but I guess they could only find it in black when they bought mine. Love it! My old one was way smaller and this one is perfect.
Love your pic with Cary! You certainly looked young in it.

Good job washing car and bringing on the rain! Never fails, huh? I am jealous tho because our car washes are $18!!

Hugs to Maggie girl!

@ Edda, yes, it made me drool too. A super favorite place Jerry and I used to go to was in Monrovia. Wangs Place. Awesome food. Peking duck had to be ordered in advance. You can see their menu at:

This is one of the cleanest restaurants I have been in...

I wonder if Humming Birds have too much sugar in them to be eaten? Just a thought. Ike
