Corn Snow ~ LOUSY Football ~ Homemade Soup ~ Do NOTHING Day!

Good 27º morning.

The Google Moon Phase with time has stopped working for some reason. I saw that several people have noted the same problem... maybe it'll be fixed tomorrow. At this moment it's 7:02 am and nothing exciting....just cold! The precip and chance of snow are 30% today to 100% Thursday and 80% Friday. The $8 I spent on the carwash was worth it!! LOL.

Being born in Los Angeles and living there for 50+ years I am always, every single time, blown away looking out my windows and seeing snow! Of course we don't get that much here in Southern Oregon... as I have never had to chain up or shovel, but each time it's so lovely. Living where there are actual seasons, as opposed to So. California's
"Fire"

"Floods"

"Riots"

and "Oscars" (where Hollywood spends a great deal of time and money primping and preening and patting each other on the back for a bunch of nonsense......)

seasons,
this is fun! And.... most of the snow was gone in a few hours...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Got this from Don Davies, former LASD Reserve... He's moved out of Dodge too and enjoying retirement in Washington State. You know where the weak lame and lazy get their 'give it to me' ideas, but now it has spread to the young college age kids who have adopted pretty much the same philosophy. Sad. Scary. No drive. No ambition.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks to Patty Rodriguez for this... I never ever get tired of watching these....

My Diamond Bar pal, Trish, sent this link. Some of you may not know this.... and there are also a couple of recipes... one for Basil Hummus that I'm going to try!
Sunday football:
Ravens 20 vs Texans 13
....and the worst was....Packers 20 vs Giants 37! I could not believe the Packers would give up such a sensational season to those upstart Giants~!! Now they end with a 15-1 season!
Unbelievable. WHOPPEN Aaron????

It snowed corn snow on and off in the afternoon....
Maggie and I went to take the trash to the road when we got a break... coming back you can just barely see the snow flakes against the mountain...
but looking west it was dark and foreboding....

Dinner was homemade soup. I cooked the chicken in a pot of vegetable broth the other day. Then I put the broth in a container in the fridge for a day and when the fat came to the top and was solid, I removed it.

Then last night I heated the broth with some cream of chicken soup... reconstituted some mushrooms in the broth and then added baby spinach, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, diced tomatoes, diced cooked pumpkin, chicken, and the last of the Honeybaked ham.....

I used Imagine creamy chicken broth, and can't find it anymore, but the large cans of Campbell's cream of chicken works fine. Use bell pepper, red and green and yellow, in place of the pumpkin. Soup was AWESOME!
All I know. Nuff said. Ciao.

January 16th
National Do Nothing Day
Today is quite simply.... a day for nothing.

This day is an "un-event". The expectation is that we do not create or otherwise promote this day. In other words, we do nothing. And, to say anything more would contradict the purpose of this day.

Celebrate this day by doing....nothing. Of course, that assumes that doing nothing is okay with your boss.

Do Nothing Day? Is it possible? Sounds Devine. Off to do what my friends think I shouldn't... Move furniture.

Sue,

Thanks for posting the saving cilantro site. I had a bunch left over from our Mex dinner last night so I am trying this method. Will let you know if it works.
The soup looks so good. Cream of Ckn soup really adds so much flavor to anything. I started putting it into my ckn n dumplins some time ago and it really made it even more delicious!

We were bummed by the outcome of that football game too!

Have a good one and stay warm! It's MLK Day!

I don't watch all those stupid - boasting - self-absorbed awards shows....those people love themselves way tooo much, make tooo much money and I really don't give a damn, can read about them in the paper if I choose to....it makes me sick to think of the salaries they get as well as the football and basketball, baseball players - who in the hell is worth that kind of money when we have elderly and children without food - medicine, homes to live in???? amazing what we put importance on in this day and age....can't go back - but that is too damn bad!!

I thought it was WONDERFUL football! My Niner's now have home field advantage for the championship game! However, I must admit I'm a little torn - Aaron Rodgers is a Cal Grad as am I, but I hated the Packers when Favre was there - never could stand him! It'll be a great game anyway next weekend. Val
