Burrrrr.... ~ Scarecrows ~ Elks ~ Pasta Day

Good 28º morning. Burrrrrrr.......... In the night I heard what I thought was an airplane .... but it kept up.... then I went back to sleep, not even figuring out it was going to be freezing out there and the vineyard up the road had kicked on their "frost fans"

to keep the grapes from freezing.

Realized what it was when I let Maggie out this morning. It sounds like a helicopter is trying to land out front!

Yesterday was fog...
Today is clear....
...but you can see the ice on the barn roof, the grapevines, and the crossbar...

Guess this means Fall is here!

Yesterday was errand day.. ran into Nancy and PJ at the Post Office. We have made a date for wine on the porch on Thursday! To Safeway for specialty candy for Halloween and my green tea and some Dunkin' Donuts Cinnamon Spice coffee, my fav. Then to take Jen's Halloween earrings to her I forgot to give her on Sunday. Jean is still hard at work hanging wallpaper! Then to Ft. Vannoy School to take pictures of the "scarecrows" hanging on the school fence that the kids made.

I will follow up with these scarecrows later..... Then it was off to the Elks ...
to meet up with Bill and Jeannie and Joe and Joann for wine. We had a nice visit. Them home and dinner and a fire in the wood stove!

This applies to any number of people I know:

Historically this date....
1962Cuban missile crisis: Adlai Stevenson shows photos at the UN proving Soviet missiles are installed in Cuba.

2004Fidel Castro, Cuba's President, announces that transactions using the American Dollar will be banned

.... one of the worst things about Cuba being Adam Henry's is that the cigar smokers don't get to savor those awesome Cuban stogies!

We used to go to Rau's down on Beverly to get Jerry's cigars. Hand rolled with Cuban tobacco by Cuban ladies! And they had the wildest coffee they served us. It was only about a shot glass full, but it kept you pumped up the rest of the day! POTENT.

And births this date include....
1881Pablo Picasso, Spanish painter and sculptor (d. 1973)

1886Leo G. Carroll, English actor (d. 1972)
Topper!

1912Minnie Pearl, American comedian and singer (d. 1996)

1924Billy Barty, American actor (d. 2000)
with Mickey Rooney^

1928Marion Ross, American actress

1928 – Anthony Franciosa, American actor (d. 2006)

1941Helen Reddy, Australian singer
Hear me roar, baby!

1944 – James Carville, American political strategist and commentator
Totally one of the weridest ever! AND.... ugleeeeeee!

1963Tracy Nelson, American actress

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

I met Billy Barty at a chili cookoff in Avalon during the 70s. He hung out with us for a time that day. He was a fun guy. Some of my buds that day remarked they thought Billy & I had something in common, our height! Can't remember but think it might have been Patterson that said that! Ike :)

I wouldn't put that past Patterson. Being as tall as he is!!! Funny.

Fun stuff! yes, our leaves are changing as well.

Billy Barty, flash from the past. In Downey, CA, at a movie matinee in 1968, I won a large bag of popcorn from Billy Barty.

S,
Oh my, those scarecrows are adorable!! What a fun project for the kids.
I loved Topper! One of my all time fav shows!
Poor Helen Reddy sure doesn't look like herself. I used to play her 8 tracks in the car driving to and from San Diego for the boys. They loved her songs. Well that's because she was in Pete's Dragon and sang the songs in it.
Oh don't get me started about James the Martian Carville! He's a nasty pathetic man! Don't know HOW Mary, his "R" wife can stand him!
I alwys thought between Ricky Nelson and his pretty wife Chris that they would have had a much more attractive daughter than they had. Go figure.
Ohhhh those pasta picture are killing me here! It's noon and I haven't eaten anything yet.

XOXO Trisha

More scarecrows tomorrow. They are so cute! Yes, Carville is off the charts. His wife seems "normal". ??? And Tracy Nelson looks a LOT like her mom, Kristin Harmon! I see some of her dad in her too. I liked her in the Father Dowling Mysteries!
