Coffees ~ James Arness ~ Steak/Mac&Cheese

Good, somewhat cloudy 46º morning.  Supposed to be "mostly cloudy" today with a high of 77º. Hope so!

Yesterday, first thing, Maggie and I headed to town to the vet's. She had to have another implant for time-released meds. He also took a biopsy of a cyst on her shoulder. Then to the Post Office to mail my estimated Oregon taxes, to the bank for $, and to the market for grub.

Back home and Jason was back to help with the weed eating. His weed-eater ran out of line and he didn't know how to put in new. (his dad's weed eater.) So, I said, put it in my truck and we'll take it to town. He reiterated he hadn't been shown how to install new line. Not a problem. I told the guys at ACE I didn't know how to install new line.... Mark and Dave were very helpful.. Mark installing the line and giving hints and instructions, Jason paying attention!  What super people at ACE. I love 'um! (Dave being my pal Nancy's hubby and Mark being my hair girl, Leah's, dad.) Back home and Jason was weed eating up a storm!

He going along the creek bed so when the brush-hogging is done, Dean can see the creek! As Jerry would have said, "The grass is hip deep to a tall Indian!"

I love this:
RALEIGH, North Carolina (AP) -- A federal grand jury indicted two-time presidential candidate John Edwards on Friday over $925,000 spent to keep his mistress and their baby in hiding during the peak of his 2008 campaign for the White House.
The case of USA v. Johnny Reid Edwards contains six counts, including conspiracy, four counts of illegal campaign contributions and one count of false statements.

I was digging through cupboards and found some coffees that I had forgotten about. The first one, Jamaica Blue, I got in Jamaica when I worked for Fabergé and we were there for an annual sales meeting in 1984! It was sealed up in a can, so I opened it and made some. Wow, still good, and 27 years old! Amazing.

Mavis Bank Jamacia Blue Mountain Coffee:
Up in the lofty Blue Mountains of eastern Jamaica, where daybreak must sift through the early morning mist, lies Mavis Bank, a small rural town. This is the site of Jamaica’s exalted “black gold”, the home of the Mavis Bank Coffee factory, the domain of the world’s beloved Blue Mountain Coffee, Jablum. The Mavis Bank Coffee Factory was built on just five acres of land in 1923, when Victor C. Munn, an English planter and processor, established what would become a family business for generations.

The second one I found is Turkish Coffee. I bought that in Turkey in 2009. I will try that next.

The eagles are growing like mad. About ready to leave the nest... probably close to the end of June.

... and here's Momma!
Historically this date....
1989 – The Tiananmen Square protests are violently ended in Beijing by the [[People's Liberation Army]. Thousands of University died in Beijing (ROC).

And births this date include...
1887Tom Longboat, marathon runner (d. 1949)
   Wouldn't you think he'd have gotten into rowing!

1907 – Rosalind Russell, American actress (d. 1976)
Love her and Cary Grant in "My Girl Friday".
1924 – Dennis Weaver, American actor (d. 2006)
And sadly James Arness, with whom he played on  Gunsmoke as Chester, died yesterday at age 88 of natural causes. He had served in the Army before coming to Hollywood, wounded and received the Purple Heart, and a very very private person. A big favorite of mine. On Gunsmoke for 20 years!!

Arness was also the brother of Peter Graves, who died last year.

1936 – Bruce Dern, American actor

Never could stand him!
1952 – Parker Stevenson, American actor and director

... Married once to Kirstie Alley .. Hardey Boys...Damn, he got old!
1971 – Noah Wyle, American actor

1975Russell Brand, British comedian, actor and television personality
... he makes me gag.
1975 – Angelina Jolie, American actress

 I guess she and the "Pitt" are never getting married, just adopting and having kids!  Weirdos.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Divorced from actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, Jolie currently lives with actor Brad Pitt, in a relationship that has attracted worldwide media attention. Jolie and Pitt have three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, and three biological children, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. ............. Imagine, they named one child after a PI from TV, one after a fountain in Jerusalem, one after a desert with a Z instead of an S, and one after gelatin!
.......... and my friend from JCRW, Val Smullen is 80 years old today!
A VERY BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY VAL!! I will see you later....
My friends Julie and Mark want to know if anyone out there is interested in adopting a 1 1/2 year old male Weimaranar. The owners live in a small space and "didn't know he'd get so big". Duh. Anyway, he's a really nice dog. I know they are, because my Brian has one, Atlas, and he's a love! But, they need LOTS of exercise!
Dinner last night was Salisbury steak with gravy and mushrooms, mac and cheese, cauliflower (with some of that cheese sauce on it), and spinach. Harley couldn't wait until I was finished so he could like the gravy and cheese sauce I left on the plate!
All I know. Happy Saturday. Nuff said.
June 4th
Mr. Harley Davidson:
  Today is Hug Your Cat Day. Go ahead and give your cat a big, furry hug.
Cat lovers can really get into this day. If you're a cat lover, you can really appreciate the warm, cozy feeling you get when you curl up on a couch or chair, and hug your cat. The only problem is, your cat will most likely only allow a brief hug before sauntering away. If your cat is a true hugger, count your blessings.
Dog lovers...sorry, but hugging your dog will not suffice. If you are going to be "into" this day, you simply must hug a cat...your cat.
You don't have a cat? You can correct this today. The month of June is "Adopt a Cat Month".
Knox is named after Fort Knox. A fortress almost big enough to hold all that money.
The most psycho dog I ever knew was a male Weimaranar. Jumped like a kangaroo and howled like a coyote. But he was a good hunter: my father in law loved him.
My hair used to be cut like Parker Stevenson's younger picture. Now he look ls like Prince Charles.
Russell Brand is definitely not my taste. However, I must say I saw his mom once. She is truly lovely. Go figure.
RIP James Arness. The world is a better place that you were here.
