Good 40º sunny clear beautiful morning! Yeah. Sun.
Yesterday Dean got here about 9am and hooked up the brush-hog to his tractor ...
Underneath it has two big blades. Then he spent 7 hours cutting the grass in the pastures...
and now it's all cut...
I spent several hours finishing up my mowing and Jason was here for 4 hours weed-eating. I still have to spray grass in the road and weeds, but not today.

Sadly, a dear friend passed away. I was notified by Sheriff's Relief that Brenda Myron, wife of former LA Undersheriff Paul Myron, died Tuesday "after a short illness". I had known Paul for years and then went on a cruise with the Myron's in 2008.
In 2009 Brenda and Paul visited here in Southern Oregon. We did the 'tourist' thing, ate at the Jacksonville Inn, went on a wine tour... we had a blast.
And Brenda bought me this gorgeous wine glass....
We had such a wonderful time and they promised to come back again soon.
RIP Brenda. You were a terrific lady and friend and you will be missed so very much. My heart goes to Paul and their family. I know how they must be feeling. I still can't believe it myself.
Sigh....... Brenda Brenda Brenda!

I was filling the nyjer bird feeders yesterday and this little finch didn't seem afraid of me. He just sat there....
So I ran and got my camera and took his picture. He's a real young one. Cute! Has a nyjer seed stuck to his beak.
Down another pound yesterday, so when chores were done Dave and PJ came up and had a chat on the porch and I had a glass of wine. It was so beautiful and the breeze was blowing. Nice. I hope it stays this way for Aaron and Marie's visit this weekend.
Here's an old family favorite... a cool salad for summer....
Pea Salad
1 bag of frozen peas (16 oz)
4 stalks celery, chopped
3 hard-boiled eggs, grated
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
fried crumbled bacon (like to buy it ready packaged at Costco)
chopped green onions
sometimes I add a jar of chopped pimentos
sometimes I add a can of chopped black olives
1 cup mayonnaise
2 T. mustard
salt, pepper, and garlic powder
Place the peas in a colander and run under cold water until just thawed but still cold. Allow to drain and then place in large bowl. Stir in the mayonnaise mixture, more or less according to your taste, and add the rest of the ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Good morning Sue!
Thank you for the pea salad recipe. I tried something like this at Fred Meyer in the deli one day for lunch, and I have been looking for this recipe. Thanks for sharing.
Shammi
You are so welcome! This one will probably be even better than Freddy's.
Whew! 4:42 in the afternoon and I am just now looking up to say GOOD morning! 60ish to 70ish here today,
Great set of photos and facts.
Hugs on the loss of your friend. I always thought it would get easier as we aged- such is the foolishness of youth.
Hi L, thanks for the note. We are just coming down from 82*. Summer has arrived in a flash! Thanks re Brenda. She was a sweet sweet woman. xo
Sue,
I am just scrolling down catching up on the blogs I missed while away.
So sorry to hear about your friend Brenda. I know how hard it is to suddenly lose a friend, especially when you aren't expecting it. Hugs to you.
Boy, looking at all those pastures that you have to mow, weed, spray I am getting tired just typing it. What a gal you are to deal with all that! Kudos to you!
Now, much more email reading to do, laundry, unloading dish washer, etc. So much to do when one is gone just for a couple of days!
XOX Trisha
p.s. Don't know when I have seen such beautiful salmon! I remember the days when our freezer was full of it. Unfortunately when I would have some out thawing I got negative remarks! Loved it cooked on a plank in bbq.
Thanks re Brenda. You know well what it's like to lose a friend. Hugs back attacha.
So very sorry to hear about Brenda. Our girls grew up together when we lived in So.CA. My thoughts and prayers go out to Paul
Sue, Any word on a funeral & or Memorial for Brenda? I do hope Paul, Debbie & Becky are OK.
