~ Artichokes ~ Slaves PJ & Dave ~ Sushi ~

Good 49º morning. Wow, a summer's day! Yesterday we hit 82º.
Today will probably be the same. Doesn't look like rain...

Yesterday I picked the artichokes, cooked them, stripped the leaves, and canned the hearts.

That is not Chardonnay, by the way, it's lemon juice. I canned the chokes with olive oil, sliced garlic, lemon juice, and sea salt. They will be great cut up in a salad. I "tested" a lot of the leaves, and only the little Globe artichokes had tender leaves.
I also trimmed the grape vines and the artichoke plants. Huff puff...huff puff....

Dave and PJ came over and installed a drip system in my garden for me. Water saver. Super. Awesome job!

PVC pipe connects each bed and then a soaker hose is attached that lays in each bed. My chokes, rhubarb, Swiss chard, asparagus, and lone tomato will be happy ♥♥♥ happy ♥♥♥  happy!

With the heat, Maggie stays inventive on cooling off, in the damp grass and shade....

Brian and Jen have signed all the papers for the closing of the sale of their house and the inspection was done on the one they are buying. Poor Jen and Brian... move out, move to storage, move out of storage, move into new house. For the time being they are staying at Jen's mom's. It's the "I'm never going to move again!" syndrome.  You've heard of "TMI" (Too much information), so this is TMW (Too much work!)

Today in Merlin, just north of here the other side of Grants Pass, the Young Marines will have a Flag burning ceremony.

I have two of my own flags, one of PJ and Dave's, and PJ has one from someone else. Bill and Jeannie will also attend and then we're going to Pottsville for the Tractor Show and Antique Show.

Then there are the hand rolls with avocado. Mmmmmmm!

And my favorite... sashimi .. fresh raw tuna. Oh be still my heart! I am drooling on the keyboard!!!  How I long for our old favorite.. Mako Sushi in Arcadia!

Sue,
Oh I can so relate to poor Brian and Jen. When we moved here I said NEVER AGAIN!! They say that moving ranks right up there with divorce for stress. Yes, it does!
Oh your chokes look wonderful but a lot of work!
How wonderful of Dave and PJ to come over and fix up your watering system for the garden. Such great friends and neighbors!
Loved seeing the tractors! I was wondering if that blue one is an old Ford. I saw John Deere ones and what looked like the red McCormick Farmalls. We have plenty of all those down on the farm in Ark.
EWWWW sushi. Can't stand the thought of eating raw fish. Calif. roll is the closest I will get to shushi. :)
Glad to hear your weather is warming up. It's still June gloom every morning here then heats to mid 70's.
Have a good day!
XO Trisha

LOL, T! Sushi is something I never ate until I met Jerry. Of course he being stationed in Japan at one time, he loved all things Japanese! I learned to make it for him. Became addicted myself!

Yes, I do have GOOD friends! xo

If we moved again- the family would all get unlisted phone numbers so we couldn't call to ask for help. TMStoo much stuff.
