~ Dream ~ Marine Corps League ~ Chinese Almond Cookies ~

Good 27º clear and sunny morning. Wow, no clouds for a change. The people putting on the Pear Blossom Festival in Ashland are happy campers today. Big deal for them with parade, etc.

I had another weird dream yesterday morning... I was in Greece (always cool) but in a car with a man driving a convertible. (nothing romantic) The roadway was like the Autopia in Disneyland... single lanes with barriers between each one

only we were in the countryside. He was driving in reverse towards vehicles coming in our direction! I was sooooo nervous and kept telling him, "Aren't you afraid someone is going to hit us?" Thankfully Harley walked in and meowed and woke me up! I told this story to my friend PatT and she said it sounds like I have issues with not being in control of something. Hmmmm..... Well, there are a couple of things... one is my age that keeps advancing rapidly over we don't have any control and 'stuff' in my house and barn I have to do something with .....

Last night I went to the RR VFW for the Marine Corps League dinner/meeting. One of the JCRW gals, Adria, invited me to come as her guest. It was good to see a lot of people I hadn't seen since Jerry and I used to go. I sat between two former Marines, Adria and Mary. I admire them both. Adria had some interesting tour of duty locations and lucky girl, she was in Hawaii for a time. Mary amazed me, at 90 years old, and you'd think she wasn't over 65 or 70! Joined the Corps in WWII. The Commandant had each of us who were guests stand and say something about ourselves. I said where I was from, short job history, and about Jerry, and then said "I may look harmless, but I raised a Marine" and got a big laugh out of that, then applause! Since our speaker was a no-show the Commandant had each Marine stand and tell about his/her service dates, duty stations, and anything interesting about their service in the Corps. One gentleman attained the rank of Major up from a PFC. Most left the service with rank of Corporal.  When Mary stood she talked about her jobs and service dates and how she used a trainer to teach pilots how to aim their wing guns at targets. Later on she told me she had been promoted to Staff Sgt but didn't want to mention it so as not to embarrass the fellas!!! Funny. Across the table was Jennifer and Clay. Very nice and fun couple. I enjoyed the evening. I paid dues to be an associate member, so will be attending these dinner/meetings monthly. This is good, as the VFW is just 3 miles from me!

Sue,
What a fun evening you had at the VFW. I have a friend I met at Curves who is very involved with the VFW with her hubby. They are on the board.
I so agree about Prince Charles and Camilla. That hag was always the third party in his marriage to Diana. He never gave her up and tried to make his marriage work. I hope he NEVER becomes king and that woman the queen! Can you imagine? I hope Prince William is the next king. Can't wait to see his wedding. It's on my calendar! :)
I also gree about Hefner! Doesn't he realize how tacky he looks? What would a young beautiful gal see in that old goat other than $$$$$$.
When we visited Eric in San Francisco when he lived there, we took the trolly car back from Fisherman's W. It was fun but I felt like I had stepped back in time.
Thinking of Lydia and hoping she's falling in love with cruising and having a fabulous time.

Good luck to Tucker at his first game today.

Hugs, Trisha
