Reno Snow! ~ Mr. Big Stuff ~ Kahlua Day!

Good 28º morning. (Heat wave!)

This morning, no ice. Hummers happily eating away when I got up. (late, 7:am!)

Been whining about the cold here.... and then my niece, Melinda, posted a picture of her front door....

LOL, she thought she wouldn't have to shovel
snow in Reno after they moved from Tahoe!

So, remember it was Banana Bread Day on the 23rd? Well when I went to Patty and Cliff's for dinner two nights ago, he had a loaf of banana bread for me that he made. OMG, it is soooooooooooo good. He said he put in extra walnuts and extra banana. That's all I want .. banana bread and butter. Oink oink oink......

Hard to believe it's been 2 years since PJ found Mr. Big Stuff at that Gold Hill off ramp where he'd been for at least two days.... waiting for someone or something...., he stayed here a week, and then Janie and I took him half way to Modesto, meeting up with Tammy and Gary who became his adoptive parents.  Tammy and I met on MySpace and she wrote that her beloved lab had died and she would like to have Big. I checked with the Animal Control, all the local vets, put ads in paper and at the market and on the radio. Nobody claimed this beauty. Imagine! So he became a California dog!

Here we go on a road trip. What a beautiful dog he is!

Gary's first meeting with Big. He later renamed
him 'Sideways', because of the way he sits!
This dog is so devoted to Gary and Tammy.

And today with his buddy Jaco.
See how Jaco's foot is touching Sidesy!

The following is an intelligence test and it's fun, actually. Well, you might
hate yourself afterwards. LOL

And then, if you haven't seen the video of the Black Lab and the deer, you have to watch this. You are guaranteed to smile.
Last night I picked up Ruth (our Jackson County Republican Women's President) and her husband, Shelly.  We went to the Red Lion for the Jackson County Republican Central Committee's Lincoln Day Dinner.  What a nice evening. Our US Congressman Greg Walden was a speaker, also attended by our state Senator Jason Atkinson (he and I belong to an exclusive club... GSW with injury! More on that later...) and Dennis Richardson, my  district's  State Representative. Dinner of a wonderful salad, wine on each table (red and white), chicken breast with a creamy parmesan sauce, vegetables and mashed potatoes. Really good! And a chocolaty raspberry cake thingy. Mmmmm...   I dropped Ruth and Shelly off at home and got back here after 10pm. Maggie and Harley hungry and happy to see me. Although, when I put Maggie's food in her dish, Harley helped himself! Gaaaaaa....  He did leave most of it for Maggie. What a guy!

More on the JCRCC dinner later with pictures.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday.

Sue,
Love the Hollyweird Pats Itself on The Back Day"! That is so true! However, I love watching! Got to check for the Red Carpet time. LOVE seeing the gorgeous and the silly gowns alike! Enjoy the next day when AOL has the pic of the Worse and the Best gowns. I always like to see if I agree.

Hey, our lab Cocoa used to sit sideways too. Don't know what was up with that but we thought it funny. What a beautiful big dog he is! You are a rescue angel for sure! It occurred to me that I couldn't have that big guy living in my house considering what Lola does!:) I can only imagine cleaning up after him!! Yikes!
Daryl finally came home during the night and this morning I went in to get Lola and she was buried waaaay under the covers next to Daryl's legs. I had to wait a few minutes until she was able to burrow herself up and out! lol Don't know how she breathes under there but that's her fav way to sleep!

Glad you had a good time last night. I guess with all those folks there you didn't have a chance to speak to Cong. Greg.

Have a fun Oscar day!!

Yes, T, I did speak to Greg and he said he didn't know Gary. Looks like Gary will have to look Greg up and make himself known! Greg was part of the "transition team" when Congress resumed and he has been very busy. xo

I like the new background on your blog. Interesting that "Sideways"
sits like that. Mali has always sat like that. We call her
"crabdog". I wonder if the way they sit is an indication of hip
dysplasia. We found out when Mali was having her leg surgery, that
the pre-surgical xrays showed she had dysplasia on the one side.

Thanks, Ann. And I'll mention that to Tammy re the dysplasia. xo

Brrrrr, 27° this morning when we got back from our walk at 6:45. Jake enjoyed sniffing at all the frozen snow as it crunched under his feet. The sun is out now in a clear, blue sky. The snow is melting off the rooftops, and clumps of it are falling off the lemon & orange trees. It is one beautiful morning!
Yes, it is hard to believe that 2 years have passed since you sheltered & found a home for that beautiful 'foundling'. I'm so happy for him that he's he is in a loving, forever home.
intelligence test and it's fun, actually I suppose, though I didn't do so well at all :/ But I sure enjoyed the deer & dog video!
Have a great day.
Hugs, Erika
