Smoke ~ Oregon Fires ~ Deer ~ Kathy O'Brien ~ Lynda Castro ~ AD GSW 2006 ~ Omelette Maker ~ Jerry Lewis ~ Sunset

Good 52º smokey morning. The smoke may block some or all of the eclipse.

We'll see.... such a gloomy morning! Yuck!!!

Gadz was it smokey stinky yesterday. GAG. Many evacuations have been ordered for the Chetco Bar Fire  and more probably today. That fire Southwest of us close to Brookings is 70,000 acres!
We topped at 91º...

When I went out to take the picture of my mountain, does and fawn were out.....

Big day today with the eclipse. Be careful with your eyes and looking at it!

Yesterday was vacuum, dust, take trash to road, etc. day. Zowie!

Birthdays today.... Kindergarten through high school pal, Kathy (O'Brien) Forsythe is celebrating.
                                        HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHY!

Today is also my pal Lynda Castro's birthday. Lynda- LASD ret. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNDA!
With her love, Rick (LASD ret.)

And today is the 11th anniversary of the day I had an AD (accidental discharge) and GSW (gunshot wound)

I was practicing with a little Beretta .22 semi-auto.

It would not un-cock, so I held it by the grips and set it down. As I leaned down it discharged. I was leaning way down and the bullet went from the gun in my right hand to my left hand. OUCH!!!!! OMG. That HURT!!!

Jerry called 911 and the ambulance picked me up, took me to the hospital where they managed to get my wedding ring off without cutting it (as I had pleaded!) then I was taken by ambulance to the air port where Mercy Flights flew me to Portland to the hospital Oregon University Hospital where they had a hand surgeon. None were available here at that time.

The bullet went through the left side of my hand at the pinky (which broke it) and exited through the center of my hand. The doctor put a pin in the broken bone in my pinkie and stitched up the rest of my hand.

Back home I discovered where the bullet ended up... in this metal can next to where I had tried to set the gun down....

After I had written about this GSW the first time, I had a number of notes from LASD people who had one of these guns at one time and said they were POS and dangerous and they got rid of theirs after having accidental discharges also. Surprised Jerry and I, as Berettas were such good guns always! Our duty weapon was a Beretta 9mm.  Jerry took this one apart and buried it.

Breakfast was another omelette. I had mixed with the two eggs some Parmesan cheese, some mayonnaise (a couple large tablespoons full, as it makes the eggs creamier! Makes scrambled eggs much better too than adding milk!), and some chopped up avocado..... Oh yes, and had fresh mozzarella snack cheese, avocado quarter, leftover balsamic mushrooms/peas, and a Stroopwaffle....

Side view of omelette.... creamy and fluffy good!!! So far, perfect every time!

Here is the omelette maker I bought... Holstein Omelette Maker

47 second video of how it works:
There is not much clean up either... just wipe it out with a cloth or paper towel. Easy peasy. Each omelette is made with 2 eggs and whatever ingredients you like.
They also sell them at Amazon:

Sad to read Jerry Lewis died. But wow, 91 years old. He was great and so fun to watch!

The sunset last night was hot!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.
