Rain ~ Peace Officers Memorial ~ Mike/Burn Pile/Dude ~ Mexican Street Corn Soup ~ Pack Rat Day

Good 39º cloudy morning.

The rain yesterday was on and off, hard at times. We got 4/10". Now "they say" for the next 8+ days we will have sunshine and heat.

Looked like this most all day:

In case you hadn't seen this...Thank you Mr. President!!!
The White House was glowing blue on Monday night in honor of law enforcement officers — something many Americans have been wanting to see for years.

President Donald Trump put on the public pro-police display for Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Roughly one year ago, President Barack Obama faced intense scrutiny for declining to turn the White House blue following the Dallas police shooting, even after a request from the head of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association.

Tweeted by Melania Trump:
& I are honored to light blue tonight, in honor . Thank u to law enforcement for your service!

Yesterday Mike came over and worked on the burn pile.... and Dude stayed close ...

It's great when you have to do a "fire" thing and your help is a retired firefighter!!!

                                            (nice hair..... not)

This recipe by Kevin caught my attention. I LOVE mayonnaise on my corn on the cob and thought I was the only one, but apparently it is something that street vendors in Mexico like also! Here's Kevin's recipe for Mexican Street Corn Soup:

This sounds heavenly..... and no, if you can't handle jalapeño, you don't need to put them in.

Later dinner was a rerun (Asian chicken wrap). Wine, chair, and TV.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day.  Ciao.

(I totally disagree with this!)
Today is Pack Rat Day. C'mon, admit it... .. you're a Pack Rat like the rest of us. If you are a Pack Rat, you're in good company. You might as well come out of hiding  behind those piles of valuable "stuff", and celebrate this fun day.
Its really easy to let things pile up. After all, each item you acquire along the road of life may have value or serve some meaningful purpose. 'Ya just never know. Making the decision to discard something of even remotely questionable value, is difficult, if not impossible to do. We understand you perfectly. Why? Because most of us are pack rats.
In keeping with the intent of Pack Rat Day, here are some Do's and Don't's:
Don't clean your room, basement, garage or any other area today.
Don't discard anything today...It may be valuable.
Don't even empty the trash today. You might have accidentally thrown out something useful.
Do keep an eye out for useful stuff being discarded by others.
Do go to garage and rummage sales. They can be pack rat gold mines.
Do look around your belongings and be thankful for what you have.

Do spend time thinking of uses for your things. Justification for saving is satisfying.

LOL I love to discard things except for my clothes and shoes! Now there, I am a pack rat! :) Getting rid of other unneeded stuff makes me feel light hearted. :)

Have you ever eaten Mexican corn on the cob, elote? Super yummy and fixed with mayo, etc.

We have that every time we have a "taco guy" and an elote lady too.
