Snow/Rain ~ Birds ~ Deer ~ Slippery Driving ~ NFL Scores/Schedule ~ Dog Snitches ~ Chicken Noodle Soup

Good 32º drizzling rain morning. Yes, rain! We are on a flood alert up here in So. Oregon and No. Cal. There is still a ton of snow out there! And it's VERY dark and gloomy also!

Grants pass didn't get the continued snow like we did here, as they got a lot of rain yesterday. Cleared off the roads!

Night before last we got a huge amount of snow. Stayed 26º all night, then in the daytime it heated up to 39º. Sigh..... stayed dark and gloomy too.
Here is what we looked like.... the birds were frantic hanging out by the bird feeder~

And later the deer ventured out and two does and a fawn found munchies under the tree...

And this is why I don't drive in this kind of weather....

Yesterday's NFL scores:
Good for the Texans and sad for the Lions!!!

Games today:

Ok, this is too funny ... dog lovers this is for us... dog snitches on sibling...

1947 – David Bowie, English musician (d.2016)

Later for dinner I had some of my homemade chicken noodle soup....
3-4 boneless skinless chicken thighs cut up and browned in olive oil. 2 32oz cartons chicken (low sodium, organic) stock, 6 cups water, garlic, several shallots cut up. peeled baby carrots, 2 pkgs button mushrooms cut in half, green beans cut to bite size, 1 cup white wine, 6 celery stalks cut up, Tuscan seasoning, salt and pepper to taste. Cook on low 2 hours, add in package of cooked egg noodles, cook 1 more hour.
   Always so good and comforting.

Not going out again today. Too much snow. Even the trash can will have to wait!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday.

I know it must not be fun stranded in your house for days but those photos are beautiful! The ones with the deer and the barn look like Christmas cards.
Don't you wish you could bring those little birds in the house to keep them warm? :)

John brought in the three hummer feeders and soaked them in bleach water then soap and water. They now look new. He hung up only one because they seem to have all migrated. I just now saw one little guy. As I said before I guess he didn't get the memo that said "We're all leaving for Mexico"! :)

Stay warm in your winter wonderland!!

Thanks T! Some of the hummers here don't migrate. Tough little guys!!! So in the morning many times the feeder will be frozen (I keep it on the front porch) so I have a spare one I switch out. The first years we were here I took down the feeders as I thought the hummers would head south, but found out from a Dept of Forestry friend that some never leave. So, back out went the feeders!!! xo

Good morning, Your pictures make me appreciate that snow is icing on the scenic background here: not the main event.

Not all hummers are migratory. What is surprising us this year is the dove are moving in. We've always had some, but I don't remember hearing them in significant numbers hanging out this time of year.

That toffee looks tempting, but I'm on a mission to stay off insulin, so going to take a pass.

We have one of the BEST toffee candy stores in the world right in Grants Pass... Cary's. OMG, I have to steer clear of that place!!!!! ox
