Rain ~ 10-28 ~ NFL ~ Life Hacks ~ Smilebox Day #5 The Missouri ~ Christian ~ Teri & Barry ~ Baked Salmon

Good 46º cloudy morning.
Yesterday it rained and rained. Stayed cool, by noon it was still only 50º.  Warmed to 54º by afternoon. Nearly 2" of rain so far in the last 3 days of rain, it was just 2/10ths shy by afternoon.

Our tour of the Missouri was right after the tour of the Arizona Memorial. A special visit to the Mo, as my US Marine son Brian, during the Gulf War, was assigned to the Mo with a Marine Corps Detachment. He showed us the special places and the bunk where he slept. We also were granted entrance into the Captain's quarters since Brian has served on the ship!
There is a 'tent' on the front deck. At present they are replacing all of the teak decking, so that is there to protect supplies.
Captain Kaiss is the only Commanding Officer in history to put a US Navy ship
into commission, and take the same ship out of commission. He is also the last
Commanding Officer of a Battleship and in essence, the last Battleship Sailor.
He was the last sailor to leave the ship on March 31, 1992.

Later dinner was salmon. This recipe I saw on FB and shared it on my page, but you can see it here http://cafedelites.com/2016/06/26/honey-garlic-butter-salmon-foil/
I sauteéd some cut up asparagus and spinach with a little olive oil to serve the salmon on...  Salmon was baked with melted butter, garlic, and honey.....

Then into the broiler for 3 minutes after baking to get the crusty top....

Found this at the store the other day and topped the salmon with some. OMGOOOD!

Yes, banana cut up... makes my tummy happy!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TGIF. Ciao.

Frankenstein Friday

Frankenstein Friday celebrates he birth of Frankenstein and its creator. Frankenstein is one of the best known horror characters, dating back to the 1800's. We can't imagine the Halloween season without the presence of Frankenstein, lurking somewhere in the darkness.
Frankenstein was born in 1818 when Mary Wollenstonecraft Shelley, at the age of 21, wrote the story "Frankenstein".
To celebrate this day, we suggest you read the novel, or see a Frankenstein movie.
Boris Karloff played Frankenstein in 1931

Charley Daniels played in Diamond Bar once. He was horribly ill. Asked for a doctor. The only one handy was a podiatrist- who wasn't happy to be put in the awkward situation. Prescribed chicken soup- and the band went on a couple hours later to put on a first rate show. That's a professional entertainer. No complaints. No excuses. No blame. Just do what you must- and go forward with gusto.

Charley Daniels was in the show Edda and I saw in San Diego. It was Sean Hannity's last Freedom concert. Lydia, that must have been at the DB Round Up. I know we had lots of stars perform there.

Thank you for giving a shout out for baby Christian' 2nd birthday. My late mother has lots of important people sharing a birthday with her today. She would have been 91.

Loved your SB today of the Mighty Mo. I remember touring it but don't remember seeing all the things you saw. I have always wondered where they got the name "Mess" for the dining rooms. How clean. Looks like you could eat off the floors! I don't know why I was surprised at a dental office there but when they were out to sea and a guy had a tooth problem, gotta fix it!

I see today was Suzy Parker's birthday. When I modeled for Revlon they gave me her name! :) Said I looked so much like her. OK then! :)

Great blog today! Hey, wondering why you didn't cook the salmon in the air fryer.

XO Trisha
