Mo Rain ~ NFL Scores ~ Turkeys on the Roof ~ Smilebox Day #4 Hawaii Part 2 ~ Kio ~ Jimmy & Mel ~ Pasta/Meatballs/Cream Sauce

Good 50º raining morning. Started on and off yesterday and through the night. Got another 1/2".

Sorry, forgot to post Monday Night Football scores...

Yesterday I heard a bunch of noise on the front porch roof... turkeys up there! I went upstairs and by the time I got the blinds open they were taking off....

Today's Smilebox is day #4 part 2... a trip to the Polynesian Cultural Center and luau... We saw several shows and some palm tree climbers. I had never had poi before, and really liked it. A citrus flavor in it that sleepily creeps onto your tongue. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poi_(food)
The center is run by the Mormon Church. There is a BYU (Brigham Young University) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polynesian_Cultural_Center
on Oahu. So, with the luau, no wine!

Since it was World Pasta Day I made some.

Another experiment.... veggie pasta, Alfredo sauce, onion soup mix, lemon butter simmer sauce, turkey meatballs, and mushrooms.
First I cooked the pasta...

Then in the pan went the Alfredo sauce and the onion soup mix and then the simmer sauce and mushrooms. When the spaghetti was done it also went in.

The meatballs were cooked in the Air Fryer and then added...

WOW, it was YUMMMMMMMM!

Later I ran some errands.. mailed ballot, got groceries, picked up package at post office, etc....
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.

Mincemeat Pie Day

Mincemeat pie requires a taste for it. I love it... especially a slice of that next to a slice of pumpkin pie!

GOOD morning. Food association- Edda LOVEs mince meat pie.

Jacklyn Smith has sure held up well. In that regard, an inspiration. I have never heard a bad word about her- in her line of work, amazing.

Is your friend whose birthday it is today Iranian? You referenced it being the Shah's birthday too. I have some Persian friends (they prefer to be called Persians)and they loved the Shah and especially his beautiful wife.

Those palm tree climbers looked like monkeys going up those trees. I'll bet they would make great electrical pole workers. :)

Interesting about Baby Fae. I haven't heard of another transplant like that one.

Mince Meat pie was a fave of my late father in law. Rusty used to make them from scratch for Thanksgiving along with pumpkin and apple. At Christmas I would find it near impossible to find ready made ones in the stores.

Pretty sure it was the Cedar Fire that destroyed our friend Loren's home in 2003. He lived in a motor home provided by his insurance company on his property until they rebuilt his home. It was lovely.

Yes, T, Kio is Persian. His grandfather was the Chief of Police for the Shah. I got to meet him. Super nice! Kio was also a policeman in Oxnard. xo
