Good 52º overcast morning. Yesterday another high of 85º with
a breeze most of the day. The tom turkeys spent most of the day standing and
laying in the shade...
It was a pretty day!
Today the arrival of my pals Linda and Andy will happen later
this afternoon. They are traveling in their new roadster, 1932, to a hot rod
club function in Canada. They will spend the night here. Can't
wait!
Yesterday I accomplished very little! I did manage to cook a
couple yams in the crock pot...

Bar, is in Cleveland. She arrived from LAX at 5am their time. She is a delegate
to the convention along with her son Daryl who is an alternate. Should be
interesting! She will share pictures.
Ok, this made me drool..... Mexican Pizza... two awesome
favorite things rolled into one!
1 cup refried beans
4 6" flour tortillas
1/3 cup enchilada sauce
1 med tomato, diced
2/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese blend
2 green onions, chopped
cooking spray
Preheat oven to 400º.
Spray skillet with cooking spray and brown and crisp the tortillas on both
sides. Save for later.
Place two of the browned tortillas on a sheet pan and spread half the
heated refried beans on top of each. Place the remaining tortillas on top of the
beans.
Pour and evenly spread half the enchilada sauce on top of each tortilla.
Top each with half the tomato and half the cheese and sprinkle half the green
onion on top.
Bake 8-10 minutes until cheese has melted. Allow to sit a few minutes
before cutting and serving.

Later I had some Progresso Lite Potato and Bacon Cheese soup.
Then it was chair, wine, and TV. I watched the Diamondbacks
Dodgers baseball game. It went 12 innings after the Dodgers led 1-0 til the 9th
when the Diamondbacks tied it up. In the 12th my son Brian's friend Brandon
Drury ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Drury )
hit the winning run. Brandon is a local Grants Pass guy and
last weekend Brian Jen and family went to San Francisco to see him play the SF
Giants... Brandon with his younger brother, Sami, and Tucker...

When you get the urge for a snack on a hot, humid summer night, what's the
first thing that comes to your mind? That's right....Ice Cream! Therefore, it's
only fitting that ice cream be given it's own special day. On this day, we hope
you enjoy an ice cream cone, a sundae, or a milk shake. Set the diet aside and
splurge a little...have one of each!
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream
Month. He also established National Ice Cream Day as the third Sunday in the
month.
Ice cream is nutritious. A little heavy on the sugar and calories, ice
cream is otherwise good for you. Its base ingredient is milk, which is loaded
with healthy vitamins and minerals.
Did you know? Charles E.
Minches of St. Louis, Missouri is credited with inventing the ice cream cone. On
July 23, 1904 at the World's Fair in St. Louis, he filled a pastry cone with two
scoops of ice cream to make the first ice cream cone. There is some controversy
over this claim. Italo Marchiony of New York City filed a patent for the ice
cream cone months before the fair opened. And, he was selling lemon ice in cones
as early as
1896.

Good morning. If I didn't already have the prime rib in the oven I would make that Mexican Pizza for dinner.
How fun to have a local boy in the major leagues. It is good for kids to see dreams can come true. The Art of the Possible is a favorite theme against depression. Which if we don't turn off TV and get off Facebook rants- that could be the state of the nation.
I am pleased Trisha could go to the convention. I am still coming to grips with Trump as the Republican nominee... but I respect that others disagree. A secret to a good life is we don't always get our way- but we must learn to give purpose to whatever arrives at our doorstep.
God's peace to us all.

Too many disgruntled nuts out there and I pray all the convention attendees and the police are safe! As for Trump, I think he would make things work. I'm sure he would enlist help from many government officials and ANYONE would be better than Hill-LIARY!!!!! xo
