Tucker's Little League Game ~ Police Activity ~ Sole Almondine ~ Little Big League ~ Dodgers ~ Gingerbread

Good 63º clear sunny morning. We hit 98º yesterday but it was cloudy and super humid. Today should be clear but about the same temp. Yesterday 3pm-ish:

Yesterday, thankfully before the heat, Tucker had his last of season little league game at 9am. Brian had set up a tent for Sami and her pals......

Here is Tucker and his base hit.....

Jen is the team mom and had set up a party for the kids.... goodies and pizza....

She even made baseball cards for each of the kids with their picture on it...

Brian had set up his State Farm pop up over the stands. Nice!! Then he moved it by the pergola where the party was...

I didn't stay for the party. Was getting hot and I wanted to get home and check on Bruiser. He stayed outside when I left but Dude was comfy inside with the AC on. On the way to the game on the southbound side of I-5 just north of Rogue River was heavy police activity. There was a pick up truck with it's doors open and about 6 or 8 radio cars... Oregon State Police, Grants Pass Police, and Rogue River PD. One of the OSP officers was walking along the edge of the road looking down and carrying an assault rifle. Obviously looking for someone who was possibly armed! On the way back home after 2 hours one OSP car was still there with the pick up.

So, I made sure I saw the news to find out what that was all about. Alas, nothing was mentioned on the news!

When I got home Bruiser was hanging out in the shade. He came in and slept for several hours. I looked up what rabies shots do to cats and in some it makes them very lethargic for up to 48 hours. Ah ha....I was wondering why he didn't want to go out first thing in the morning as he usually does, but he just napped until his breakfast. Then he slept most of the day. He did go out back once, and I looked and he was sleeping on the seat of my golf cart. This morning he's feeling back like his old self and was outside first thing!

My Scottish grandparents were "kicked" out of Mexico by Villa's men, because they weren't citizens of Mexico ... but they posed for pictures! My mother on the left, uncle in the middle, and aunt on the right. Grandfather was a mining engineer at the Cananea gold mine. This taken 1910...

On this day in 2004 a great loss ... Ronald Reagan died. RIP.

Later for dinner I cooked one of the Sole Almondine I got from Omaha Steaks and had the rest of the veggies from the Friday. Put sole in a 450º oven for 25 minutes. Voilá! How easy is that!
The sole as REALLY good and crunchy on the outside. Yes!!!

Then I watched a movie, Little Big League (1994).... A young little league player inherits the National League team from his grandfather, Minnesota Twins. It was a cute movie. On the Hallmark Channel.

Then I watched the Dodgers beat the Braves 4 to zip!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Ciao.

June 5th
National Gingerbread Day

This holiday is about bringing awareness of gingerbread to those who have not yet tried a version of gingerbread. Gingerbread is known for many food varieties. Everything from gingerbread "bread" to cookies and gingerbread houses.

Research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. However this holiday has been celebrated for years on this date. This is referred to as a "National" day, however there are no congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day. Still, something good to celebrate!

OMG! Jen is amazing! She is so creative. I'll bet the kids were over the moon about the party. Jen is definitely the "Party Girl"! :) Brian is such a great dad.

Happy to hear Bruiser is back to normal after his shots.

I too bought Richard Scarry books for my boys. I have the entire set and come to think of it I should have John bring them home from storage for my grand babies.

That tickles me that you had a Hoppy outfit. When we played cowboys and Indians I was always Dale Evans. :)

XO Trisha

Yes, T, your grand babies would love the Scarry books... especially Isabella! And yes, Jen is the party guru!! Great imagination! As for Hoppy, I loved Dale Evans too, but was more of a tomboy! xoxoox

Good morning- Jen gets Team Mother of the Century. Shannon's sister has a face painting business. Too bad they don't live in the same state- what an uplifting affair that could be.

I have a very good recipe for Gingerbread cake. I just don't know if I want the oven on that long today...

I still dream of riding horseback across the country... Some things are better in the imagination.

I remember Reagan fondly. Good manners. Affable temperament. Peace through strength. Not a biggoted bone in his body. He was the right man at the right moment.

Jen can sure throw a party!! L, it's too hot to cook, but the sole I baked last night didn't have the oven on that long. Reagan was the BEST!!! xo
