Heat ~ Pat Kelly ~ Cop Follows Goose ~ Corn Slather ~ Movies & Bruiser ~ Sunglasses Day & Dude

Good 55º sunny clear morning. Got to 96º yesterday.

Yesterday was nice in the morning, by 1pm only 86º. Then it heated up and by late afternoon I had the AC on. Brian called and he and family were at Brookings on the coast and it was only 64º.

I know..... whine whine WINE!

LOL:

Yesterday was over the top exciting. Turned on sprinklers in the back and filled the water tubs for the critters. Watered the front also, before it got hot. Took a ride in the golf cart and Dude ran along to take the trash to the road for Monday pickup. Cleaned out a couple drawers in the kitchen and have stuff for Goodwill. Played solitaire on the computer. Had an apple, muffin with peanut butter, and fresh mozzarella for lunch...

Today is a special birthday, Greece traveling pal Pat Kelly is celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAT!!!

Taken at a fav restaurant, Alexander The Great, in Athens in 2009.

You might have seen this already, it's making the rounds... a cop in Cincinnati was parked when a goose came pecking on the car door. He tossed it some food, but it wasn't interested. After more pecking and the goose walking away but turning to look at him he decided to follow it. One of her goslings had gotten tangled in a balloon string. A fellow officer showed up and untangled the baby and all was well...

Dinner was corn on the cob and one of Omaha Steaks Sole Almondine. While the sole was cooking I mixed up some melted butter, a little lemon juice, mayonnaise, a touch of garlic salt, and some grated cheese.
I slathered that on the corn ear and put some atop the sole.
        OMGOOOOOOD!!!!!!

I tried watching 3 movies I had recorded. They were all so boring I deleted them.
The Convenient Groom (http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/the-convenient-groom), Stop The Wedding (http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/the-convenient-groom) and a Sandra Bullock/Nicole Kidman movie Practical Magic (http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/the-wedding-march) and could NOT get into that one at all!
All the while, Bruiser slept on my lap!

Ended up watching The Wedding March (http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/the-wedding-march) which was ok.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

Sunglasses Day

It’s Sunglasses Day! Sunglasses are quite possibly the most important fashion accessory of the entire summer season. Humans have been wearing protective eyewear for centuries, but the stylish designs we’re accustomed to today are a much more recent invention.

During the prehistoric era, the Inuit people used walrus ivory to create sun goggles, which blocked out the powerful rays of sun that reflected off the snow and ice. By the 1700s, doctors were regularly prescribing tinted glasses for vision correction, and by the 1930s the Foster Grant company was selling modern-day sunglasses on the boardwalk of Atlantic City, New Jersey. On the eve of World War II, a little company called Ray Ban began producing anti-glare sunglasses for pilots. “Aviators” became the first commercially successful sunglasses.

To celebrate Sunglasses Day, pick up a new pair of shades at your local sunglasses store!

Mother goose asking the officer for help is precious. Wouldn't it be nice if all people realized helping is why most who qualify as first responders - helping others is the core of why.

I usually grill sandwiches with butter. But the other day, on a tip, I used mayonaise to crispy the toasted suface- the texture was marvelous.

Have fun today.

Sorry your Hallmark movies were a dud. The other night I decided to watch their channel as I love most of their movies. I really got into one called "Three Bathrooms and a Corpse". It was really getting good as it was a "who done it" mystery. However it was getting late so I turned it off thinking I would finish watching it the next day. OMG! Thinking I had recorded it when I turned it off but I didn't so I lost it! :( (That dawned on me in the middle of the night!)
Well in the next few days Kev and family were here and I ask Kev how I could get it back to watch. Internet?? Well then he turned on the guide and I'll be darn!! They were showing it again that night! YAAAA! So I hit record and when it came on I fast forwarded to the part where I left off. Boy was I lucky! :)

The police do so many good deeds. It makes me so angry when some people say all they do is beat people! GRRRR

Stay cool!

Yes, L, people go into law enforcement and firefighting mainly to help people. xo

L, I have done the same thing with the TV. Thought I was recording something and change the channel. OOPS. Not there when I come back! xo
