Crooked Tree ~ Costco ~ Turkey Babies ~ Bruiser ~ Nadia G ~ Sully

Good 54º clear sunny morning. Don't know the high temp yesterday, somewhere around 85º.

I was looking up at the mountain and I remember when we first moved here... that tree with the crooked top was totally all visible. 18 years changes a lot!

And up in my pasture these trees were only about 1 foot tall.....

Yesterday was annual doc checkup with my cardiologist, Dr. Brian, and then a blood draw at my GP's, Dr. Rachael, and then Costco! Well, got a call from the doc's office, he had forgotten about an appointment he had with his doctor so had to cancel mine. Reset for later.....  I decided I needed to go to Costco so went.
Crowded! I got my fav things ... fresh mozzarella balls, fresh raspberries ($3 cheaper than Safeway!) veggie cakes, organic chicken stock, lemon juice, BF Mayo (only $7 for the GIANT jar & there was a $2 off coupon!)
baked super crispy rice crackers, Hass avocados (4 for $5, a California grown avocado www.missionpro.com ), and Ocean Mist artichokes (the VERY best, from Castroville Ca and only $5.99 for 4......

To keep the artichokes fresh, cut off the very end of the stem and put in water until ready to cook. Also picked up an Asian Chicken Wrap from the meat department.

I came out of the ladies room and there was a women sitting on a bench there and coughing something awful. I stopped and asked if she was OK. She waved me off. I said would some water help? Another lady came up and was concerned too and she put some money in a vending machine right there and got a water.
It was $1.50 and I gave her a dollar. She didn't want to take it, but I stuck it in her purse. The coughing lady got better and sipped the water. Whew.

Came home, unloaded the car, and enjoyed a wrap with some mozzarella and a glass of wine....

Looked out back and there was the momma turkey and her growing babies...

Didn't have dinner. Still too full from the Asian Chicken wrap.
So, it was chair, wine, cat on lap, and TV.....

Saw a new show on the cooking channel... Nadia G's Bitchen Kitchen. http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/chefs/nadia-g.html OMGOSH, she is a NUT! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadia_G
I was surprised to read she's Canadian as her accent sure sounded like New York! The show in on here super early in the morning, so I recorded it.

The movie Sully, about Sully Sullenberger the captain of the US Airways jet he landed safely in the Hudson River saving 155 people in 2009, will be out September 10th starring Tom Hanks. That I want to see! Directed by Clint Eastwood!!!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

Sure wish we had a Bob's Big Boy close... I'd have a Big Boy combo, add avocado, side of blue cheese and a root beer float!!!!

I did not know they were making a movie about Sully. It's got to be good with Clint directing.

Oh be still my heart! Beautiful artichokes four for $5! Amazing! Next time John goes to Costco I will have those on his list! Your wrap lunch looked wonderful! No wonder you were too full for dinner!

You are the nicest person to help buy that lady a water! The day before you stopped to help the skate board boy. So sweet of you.

I am watching our hummers out the window. They are swarming all around the three feeders. There's even a waiting line! :) Fun to watch. It's LAX! :)

Yes, T, I knew you'd be happy to hear about the artichokes!!

BTW, I ain't nobody special, "sweet" as you say, you'd do the same thing. Most everyone I know would do those things. Unless someone is an Adam Henry, we do what we can to help. xoxo

Sue- You are going to have to get a t-shirt that says rescue-squad. It is so good you are willing to put yourself out. It was a young man driving by (whom I waved off) who got me help when my arm broke. Only because he insisted did the clean break stay put- making a better recovery.

I'll have to try the Cost Co artichokes soon. I'm hoping to run across some with long stems attached for a floral arrangement- it is American Grown Flowers Week.

Clint Eastwood sure did grow up to be a fine director.

L, that shirt would be funny. I mean, really funny. Maybe it should say "Old Lady Here To Help" !!! You should grow your own artichokes. Easy as pie.

Eastwood is atypical in Hollyweird, as he's a Republican! Hanks goes the other way and LOVES Ovamit!!
