International No Diet Day
International No Diet Day encourages us to appreciate the bodies we
have. You could consider it a "Big" backlash against becoming little (err thin)
people. This day is intended for us to appreciate the body we have. It
encourages us to recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes....... and
that's okay.
Anti-diet groups exist to assist and support people who suffer illnesses
like anorexia, in their efforts to shed fat and be thin. In addition to
anorexia, other medical problems can result from taking diet pills, and
surgeries, such as stomach stapling, to control weight.
International No Diet Day is a good opportunity to re-assess and
evaluate your weight management goals and perspective, and to make certain your
efforts to be thin don't come at a risk to your health. If you decide that
continuing your diet is right for you, then use today to take a one day
break.
Remember the old saying: "You're body is your temple." In your
efforts to make your temple a thin one, do so in a safe and healthy
manner.
Today is also....
Military Spouses Day
Military
Spouses Day was created by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 Secretary of Defense
Casper Weinberger established the Friday before Mother’s Day as Military Spouses
Day
Military
Spouses Day is
a day to recognize and honor the real backbone of the military..... the spouses
of our soldiers. This day recognizes the contributions made by military spouses
to the spirit and well being of soldiers and military communities. Where would
military moral be without their spouses behind them?
And
lastly today is ...
National
Nurses Day
- May 6-12: National Nurse's Week
- May 8: National Student Nurses Day
- May 6th: National Nurses Day
- Wednesday of Nurse's Week: School Nurses Day
- May 12: International Nurse's Day
- November 14: Operating Room Nurse Day
The
roots of International Nurses Day goes back to 1953, when Dorothy Sutherland of
the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare sent a proposal to
President Eisenhower to proclaim a "Nurse Day" in October of the following year.
The proclamation was not officially made. But, this day was born and eventually
gained national recognition.
International
Nurse Day is celebrated on May 12, because this it's the birthday of Florence
Nightingale.

Thank you O!! xoox
Cold & overcast down here, still waiting for some rain.
Our prayers are for Kristen in the hopes that the new dose of cancer fighting drug will help her without making her sick. God bless your sweet, wonderful daughter. I love that picture you posted of her - yes, also love your little grand baby, Madeline, what a darling child she is!
Have a great day.
Hugs, Erika
Thank you E !!! xo
Thank you for keeping us up to date on your daughter.
What a darling child in the picture. I've driven the wheatfields of Montana- what an amazing state to grow up in.
Only diet I'm on now is TV "News". Glad to be rid of the "addiction". Getting enough to keep the mind nourished- with enough variety to be informed, in the manner that the Founding Fathers meant the citizenry to be.
Blessings
The news has it's moments, L. Some good and some horrid. Yes, Maddie is darling! xo
