Weather ~ Sunset ~ Dude ~ Sunday Football ~ Trish Bowler ~ Dirty Sue Martini ~ Mom's Shaker ~ Fruitcake Day

Good 33º cloudy morning. Rain coming....

Yesterday's sunset....

The sun all day yesterday was heavenly! I knew we were in for more rain so I "ran 5 Miles"... driving the golf cart and Dude running to take all the trash to the can by the road and all the recyclables. He is such a happy camper to run.  Gets so excited when he knows we are going to do that!
Dude is the biggest love!!! Can't thank Dave enough!!

Saturday's football...

Today's football... should be interesting.. My Patriots and Kristen's Jets!

Today is a very special birthday... my pal Trish Bowler, wife of the infamous Lt. John Bowler (LASD ret). HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRISH!! Wishing you a SUPER day. oxox

Yesterday evening I made myself a 'Dirty Sue' martini...
Vodka, Dirty Sue martini mix, and pickled asparagus spears.
OMGOOOOOD!!

I munched on some of that turkey for dinner. Made some turkey gravy. Here is an item I have had for a very long time.. it's older than me, for sure. It belonged to my Mom. When she made gravy she would heat the liquid from cooking the giblets and then put some flour in this 1 cup container and add milk. Then shake it up and add it to the cooking broth...

There are no markings on it. Made of aluminum. Works great! Fun being able to use something of hers that she used.

I think today I will make some turkey soup. Mmmmm....
Also need to clean the house... you know the exciting stuff..vacuuming, mopping, and dusting. ICK~! I was going to meet Brian and family for brunch at TapRock, but they are going to go to the snow.
I called TapRock, as I had a 2 for 1 coupon that expires the 1st and the brunch is only on Sunday. They manager said I could use it on the 3rd and to put his name and yesterday's date on it to be valid one more week. Nice!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Ciao.

National Fruitcake Day

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-e1J4RIL30uE/UNxk0PMdEVI/AAAAAAAAihE/aAidvCltEIQ/s1600/fruitcakeMA29125228-0015.jpg

Didn't this year, but I love getting the fruitcake from Costco, dousing it with rum and let it sit a week before eating it. OMGOOD!!!

It is very appropriate for National Fruitcake Day to be celebrated shortly after Christmas. Once the holidays are over, it's time to get rid of your fruitcake. Giving a fruitcake is a Christmas tradition for many. It is also believed that recipients will re-wrap the fruitcake and give it to someone else. Who knows how many years, or decades, a fruitcake has been passed along? Ultimately, the trick is to make sure you give away the fruitcake before the holiday season is through. Otherwise, you get the joy of storing it, until the next fruitcake-giving season.

On National Fruitcake Day, those with a sweet tooth can celebrate by eating a slice or two. Otherwise, we suggest you use this day to give your fruitcake to someone....anyone.

AWWW Thank you darlin for the shout out for my birthday! You do keep the photos from the past, huh? I do too. That photo tickles me. We were on a cruise and it was elegant night. They passed around champagne and I always insist that John take one even tho he doesn't drink it. That way I get two! :)

Tonight all the kids gather again for ANOTHER big meal! :) I always choose Red Lobster for my birthday! :)

Fruitcake! I send out about five Collins Street Bakery Deluxe Fruit cakes (the best in the world) I always order one for John too because he loves it. Well it seemed that everyone else got theirs but ours didn't arrive. So I called the company and they informed me that I didn't order one for us! What?? I am getting old and forgetful I guess! Poor dad. Oh well, Matthew and I made cookies instead. lol

Hugs and thank you!

XO Trisha
