Burrrrr ~ Woodpecker ~ Turkeys ~ Bruiser ~ Football ~ Flatiron Bldg ~ New Hoodie ~ Steak/Tots/Simmer Sauce/Cottage Cheese ~ DirecTV ~ Boston Cream Pie

Good clear (can see stars) but too early morning and 36º! Burrrr...
Yesterday we warmed to 70º. Beautiful day!

Ok,  now that it is getting lighter out I can see ice on the barn roof and low low clouds covering all the mountains. Can't see "my mountain".

Out front yesterday was Mr. Woodpecker ..... I whistled at him and he whistled back!

Out back were the Toms showing off for and following the hens!

"10-23" = stand by....('just wait a second. cool your heels!')

The Bruise always has to hang around when I'm at my desk. He got on top of the computer box and was watching for 'anything' outside. Nothing out there so he took a nap!!

Last night's football scores...

The Flatiron Building in NY:

Historically this date....
42 BC – Roman Republican civil warsSecond Battle of Philippi – Mark Antony andOctavian decisively defeat Brutus's army. Brutus commits suicide.

1915 – Woman's suffrage: In New York City, 25,000-33,000 women march on Fifth Avenue to advocate their right to vote.

... Unimaginable the thumb that men put women under and forbade their input in elections! ... As well as many many jobs!! Grrrrr.... don't get me started!

1929 – The first North American transcontinental air service begins between New York City and Los Angeles, California.

1942 – All 12 passengers and crewmen aboard an American Airlines DC-3 airliner are killed when it is struck by a U.S. Army Air Forces bomber near Palm Springs, California. Amongst the victims is award-winning composer and songwriter Ralph Rainger ("Thanks for the Memory", "Love in Bloom", "Blue Hawaii").

2001 – Apple announces the iPod.

And births this date include...
1766 – Emmanuel, Marquis de Grouchy, French marshal (d. 1847) funny is that!!!!! I know someone that would fit .... The Marquis de Grouchy! LOL....

1925 – Johnny Carson, American television host (d. 2005)
Boy, he was a favorite! Funny man.

1956 – Dwight Yoakam, American singer

Keep the hat on, boy!

1962 – Doug Flutie, American football player
..played for a lot of different NFL teams and is now a drummer in the "Flutie Bros Band". !!!

1976 – Ryan Reynolds, Canadian actor
My friend Georgia Sue showed me a shirt a pal of hers got for her......

So I found this hoodie on line, and bought it. Will be warm for winter!

Dinner was a couple Omaha Steaks, bacon wrapped filet mignons, and some Tater Tots and some Safeway Select Simmer Sauce Mushroom Wine flavor, cottage cheese and tomato ...

The Tater Tots were baked and then the steaks were broiled. I heated the simmer sauce and when I plated it all I poured some over the tater tots. OMGOOOOOOOOD!!!!!

The DirecTV guy was here about 4pm to upgrade me to high def. He said they have to give me a new dish. I have a pole mount on the ground and he was going to put the new one on the roof. I said, "NO, because when it snows and covers the dish I can't clean it off if it's on the roof!" So, now they have to have "locate" come out and make sure there is no electrical or gas pipes etc where it goes. The current one has been there FOREVER and there is NO underground anything in that area on the side of the house. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.............. Rescheduled for next week.
Later... chair, wine, TV.... and a nap!!!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TGIF. Ciao.

October 23rd
National Canning Day

Dang, can't celebrate today, as I have nothing to can. Used to get little green tomatoes from Jeannie and make them with garlic and jalapeño for dirty martinis. Not this year. Ah well.....
Today is also Boston Cream Pie Day!

Love the sweatshirt! My t-shirt is really very black! No clue why it looks dark grey!

I think you need a "what wine goes with cat hair" t-shirt):-

I've always found it interesting that women's suffrage wasn't passed until 1971. As that nation has high rate of gun ownership- it could be interesting why the Swiss think our gun homicide rate is so high compared to theirs.

Bruiser tickles me. He looks like a cat statue standing there. Wouldn't you think he could find a more comfy place to nap? :)

Interesting read about the Flatiron bldg. I have seen it in so many movies and have always wondered about it.

Love those little filet mignons wrapped in bacon from Omaha. Do you really eat two at a time?
That sauce sounds and looks yummy on your taters.
