10-Code Month ~ Morning Moon ~ Brian ~ Ahi Tuna At The Vine ~ Egg-Tastic Info ~ Sunset ~ Dude ~ Vegetarian Recipes

Good 48º cloudy morning. Yesterday was clear and I took a picture of the morning moon:

As we begin a series of 10 codes. Today is 10-1 which means 'receiving poorly' in our list of LASD radio codes.
Today is a special day... my Brian has had his State Farm Office open since 2008! Congratulations Bri. Good job!!!

Next door to Brian's office is The Vine, in the shopping center off Allen Creek Rd. Great food!! Here's Brian's lunch the other day... Ahi Tuna on fresh spinach. YUMMMMM!

Their foods include Vegan/Vegetarian, Mediterranean, Italian, and American cuisines....

Historically this date...
1890 – Yosemite National Park is established by the U.S. Congress.

..... boy howdy, I remember that one. Standing in the kitchen, Jerry gone to work and the kids gone to school... everything in every cabinet was rattling. Brian and his pal Alex were sitting at a signal light and thought someone had bumped into them. Brian later skipped out from school to come home and make sure 'mom' was ok.

And births this date include....
1909 – Sam Yorty, American politician (d. 1998)
.... Ha ha ha.. the mayor of Los Angeles from 1961-1973 and he never once pronounced Los Angeles correctly. He always said "Los Angle-leeez". What a poop!

..... oh yes! This boy had some guns on him!!! Yummmmm...

Daddy had his Marilyn Monroe picture in his closet and she always got a wolf whistle when he went in the closet! I have my Mark McGwire milk ad picture in a cupboard and he gets the wolf whistle when I open it!

Breakfast yesterday, yes ... my Egg-Tastic eggs with a little parsley, some Mrs. Dash seasoning, and Parmesan cheese added after cooking is done to just sit on top and melt. Along with that a chicken thigh with gravy and a pear off my tree.

Here is an Egg-Tastic demo on youtube:
If you bought an Egg-Tastic, like so many of you have after my love affair with the egg cooker, and it didn't come with the two pages of recipes, let me know and I'll either mail them to you or email them and you can print them out.  Just let me know.
Yesterday was shopping errand day. A stop at Brian's office to make a donation. Sami's school, Highland Elementary (BTW whose PTA President is Jen!) is having a jog-a-thon to raise money for an AC system. Then to Safeway for groceries. The pharmacy for a prescription, and ACE to inquire when the deer blocks will be back in stock. Home to put everything away.  Dinner was the Taqueria Mexico leftovers.
The sunset was beautiful!

.... and my Dude watching it too:
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

World Vegetarian Day

World Vegetarian Day encourages us all to eat our vegetables and fruits. Countless studies have proven that a diet filled with fruits and vegetables is good for our health. Vegetarians, have taken this path either for their health, or from a conviction that they should not eat, and therefore, kill animals.
A vegetarian, by definition, eats no meat. That includes fish and other forms of seafood. Bottom line is, a vegetarian eats no animal. Their diet consists of plants....fruits and vegetables. They are ethically and morally opposed to killing animals for food.  They are also against poor treatment of animals at farms and slaughterhouses.
There are plenty of groups and organizations that support the vegetarian effort. If you are considering becoming a vegetarian, a quick web search, or a look up in your local phone directory should produce a group near you. While you are online, check out the wide range of sites offering vegetarian recipes.
This day is used to promote awareness of the issues, and encourages others to become vegetarians. Seeing as fruits and vegetables are very healthy for you, World Vegetarian Day is a good day to try a vegetarian diet. You might just be surprised at how good it tastes, too.
Here are 25 vegetarian recipes from one of my favs, Cooking Light (believe it or not, that is a vegetable meatloaf!)

Welcome, October!

TBT- The year Oakland hosted the All-Star Game, Mark shared his family tickets with Eric so we could come as a family. When Mark was named to the team, I don't know how he handled tickets for his family- but they were all there, too.

You meatless meatloaf photo didn't come thru. It's just an empty square.

While on a cruise we sat at a table with four people who were vegetarians. (One couple OWNED a cattle ranch! HA) I actually felt sorry for them when the rest of us were eating amazing meats and on the night we had steak and lobster, especially! What a dull existence.
I do know that if one is a vegetarian they have to be careful to get enough protein and other vitamins in their diet.

Sam Yorty used to irritate me so much! One would think as the mayor of a city that he could pronounce the name of that city! Dumb Dem!!
