Speeding Bullet ~ Ant Hill ~ Kathy O'Brien ~ Lynda Castro ~ Deer ~ Bruiser ~ Zyrtec & Zicam

Good 52º clear sunny morning. Stayed relatively free of smoke yesterday.

PICTURE OF THE DAY:
Indonesian Gecko in the rain! Made this the wallpaper on my FB page. Oh, and I was asked where I find these types of photos.... www.bing.com. Many of these are their daily wallpaper. Most you can download.

Breakfast.... another egg in Egg-Tastic. This time only one egg, mixed with a small spoonful of mayonnaise and a little bacon salt. Cook time on 1 egg is 45 seconds! Coffee, yogurt, blueberries, raspberries, and Laney Honey.

For you people who have an interest in guns you are going to say, "WOW!" 45 second video..

This is most interesting. Had no idea about the complexity of ant hills. Shared by Rod Johnson (LASD ret). Thanks Rod. WOW! (my second WOW in just a few minutes!!!)

Historically this date...
1911 – The Mona Lisa is stolen by a Louvre employee.

1959 – President Dwight D. Eisenhower signs an
executive order proclaiming Hawaii the 50th state
of the union. Hawaii's admission is currently
commemorated by Hawaii Admission Day

2006 - I had an AD and the .22 bullet went through
my left hand. Upon setting the gun down and holding
only the grips, it discharged. I was flown to
Portland University Hospital for surgery.

...after that little incident, several department
friends told me that the gun was a piece of junk,
a Beretta .22 semi-auto, and that they had also
had ADs with it, it was disassembled and tossed!
Beretta makes fine guns, whodda thought! Of course,
from the ER Jerry called my children and our friends
and without explanation he said, "Sue shot herself" !
That put everyone in a tailspin! Sigh......

is celebrating today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHY!

... and great friend Lynda Castro (LASD ret) is also celebrating.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNDA!!!
This was taken in Laughlin this last April at the LASD reunion.

Momma deer and her three fawns were out today...

Bruiser came in to rest up from his morning 'hunt'. I had my slippers off and under my desk...that is the spot he chose for his nap! He loves to get his paws inside the slippers!

Later exciting stuff... 4 loads of laundry, cleaned out a cupboard, worked on check book. Dinner was chicken thigh with garlic sauce & sriracha mayo, lettuce & tomato with lemon infused olive oil and sea salt, and a yam.

Out in the yard all afternoon was momma dear... escaping from her triplets!

I started feeling lousy, as if I was coming down with a cold, so took Zyrtec. A little later started in on the Zicam. I was cold so wrapped up in my down comforter and turned on the TV and started watching a Hallmark movie, A Crush On You ...  http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/a-crush-on-you
Well, that didn't last long, fell asleep. Woke up and went to bed! LOL. Feeling better today. Totally love Zyrtec and Zicam. The Zyrtec is good if you get stuffy. I generally take it at bedtime. The Zicam gets rid of cold symptoms, amazingly fast! I will keep taking the Zicam today every 3 hours.

All I know. Happy TGIF. Nuff said. Ciao.

August 21st
National Senior Citizens Day

National Senior Citizens Day honors our elderly population. On this day, we are encouraged to recognize and show appreciation for the value and contribution of elderly people to home, family and society.

In his Presidential Proclamation (August 19, 1988), President Ronald Reagan said "For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older."

On National Senior Citizens Day, we should:

Spend some time with senior citizens
Show our appreciation for senior citizens
Do volunteer work in support of the elderly

If you are a senior citizen, enjoy your day any way you desire. After all, this is your day! Make sure to take advantage of senior citizens specials and discounts. There's bound to be plenty offers today.

LOL FUNNY Senior Citizen signs and pics. I can relate! :)

What an amazing video of the bullet leaving the gun!

John was just telling me this morning that the gun we gave him for graduation from the Sheriff's Academy back in 1966 would be worth $18,000 today if the barrel was a bit longer and it was in new condition. Wow! 357 Magnum Python. He carried it for years so it's not in new condition.

Glad you are feeling better today. I love Zicam too.

XO Trisha
