Weather ~ Yogurt/Mandarin Oranges/Laney Honey ~ Dog Watches Ducklings ~ Doctor's Salaries ~ Alex Jack Sami ~ Dave Smail ~ Wimer Bridge & Deer ~ Waffle Iron Cooking

Good 61º slightly cooler morning. Still clear and gonna be HOT later! Yesterday was not too bad, stayed in the 80ºs which was great for the National Track & Field Championships held this past weekend in Eugene Oregon.

Yesterday apparently we did get some moisture as I heard it dripping into the rain gutter. Didn't appear that anything was wet though. This was 6:30am...
The turkeys were migrating down the hill...

Breakfast: Plain Greek yogurt, mandarin oranges, and Laney Honey!

This is awesome.. a rescue dog (who looks just like my Dude!!) watches over baby ducklings...

This is interesting... doctors salaries:

After a quick run through of chores, a shower, then a quick trip into Grants Pass to Safeway for a few essentials... I found this...
I HAD to buy it. Came home, unloaded car, put away groceries, and got out some caramel corn rice cakes (sigh... most of them fell apart!) and spread on the Chocolate Cheesecake Hazelnut spread...
OMLORD. THIS IS AWSOME!!!!! OINK!!!

While in Grants Pass about 6 raindrops fell on my windshield. Then back in Rogue River another 5 or so. Speaking of Rogue River... this weekend is the Rooster Crow. I didn't go to the parade yesterday and not to the car show or to the booths today either. Just too hot for me...

When I got home I unloaded the car and Dude jumped in. He wanted a ride... so he got one all the way into the carport!

Brian sent me this: Having fun!

Today is a special birthday of "one of our kids"... Dave Smail. He was an Explorer Scout at Temple and then became and retired as a Deputy. (Taken at the Laughlin Reunion in March)

In the afternoon Patty called. She and Cliff will be heading back to the cool coast today and wanted me to come up for a glass of wine... They live close to the Wimer Bridge.

On July 5, 2003 Brian and Jen were on his Harley touring the area and passed across this bridge. Then next day a man and his two grandsons were walking across the bridge,  a pickup truck drove over it, and the bridge collapsed! The grandfather and his grandsons sustained serious injuries. It, of course, was re-built.

So... up at Patty and Cliff's is this deer that visits often. She feels safe up there.....
In a bit she came up on the deck and looked in the window!
Had a great chat with my friends, came home, had reruns for dinner!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

Waffle Iron Day
Waffle Iron Day celebrates this great kitchen gadget that makes tasty waffles. Waffles are cooked between two metal plates. A waffle iron is powered by electricity to heat the plates and create, light waffles ready for you to top with syrup, and/or your favorite fruits.

Waffles are not just for breakfast. They are good for lunch or dinner, too.

The origin of the waffle:  The waffle dates back to the 1300s in Greece. Greeks cooked flat cakes between two metal pans. At the time, they topped it with cheeses and herbs. Pancake syrup wasn't around back then.

You do know how to celebrate this day.......don't you!? If you don't have a waffle iron, today is a good day to go out and buy one. If you are too busy to make waffles ourself, buy some frozen in your grocery store, or order them out at a restaurant.

I love cooking in my waffle iron: refrigerator biscuits, slice open, put in cheese... cookie dough! .... or cinnamon rolls.... or a quesidilla... or bacon....or eggs... or little shredded potato nuggets!

Darling photo at Disneyland but where's Tucker?

Dude is a hoot. He wants to ride in the car but runs instead of riding in the golf cart. :)

I will have to buy some of that spread. Matthew loves Nutella so he would probably like that too.

That deer is amazing to come up so close. Wonder if it would let you pet her.

Scary about that bridge. Glad they got it rebuilt!
