Weather ~ Jacksonville ~ Mother's Day Smilebox ~ Jim Plumbridge ~ Eat What You Want Day

Good 52º very cloudy looks like rain morning.
None of my old arthritic hands, knees, or shoulders hurt so I'm doubting it will rain....

Yesterday I headed to Jacksonville, about 5 miles east of Medford..

Jacksonville was founded following discovery of gold deposits in 1851–1852. With the creation of Jackson County, it became the county seat, a role which was transferred to nearby Medford in 1927.
Jacksonville was home to the first Chinatown in Oregon, founded by immigrants from San FranciscoCalifornia. Evidence of this chapter of history was uncovered early in March 2004 when road work uncovered artifacts dating to the 1850s and 1860s. Construction was halted while archeologists performed four days of rescue excavations. Their findings included broken Chinese bowls and tea cups, handmade bottles, and fragments of opiumparaphernalia and Chinese coins.
When the gold deposits were worked out, and the railway bypassed Jacksonville in 1884, the city's economy slowed. This had the unintended benefit of preserving a number of structures, which led to Jacksonville being designated a National Historic District in 1966, covering over 100 buildings. It was cited as a "mid-19th century inland commercial city significant for its magnificent group of surviving unaltered commercial and residential buildings. The city was the principal financial center of southern Oregon until it was bypassed by the railroad."
to I met up with Brian, Jen, Tucker, Sami, Grandma Jean, and cousin Marie at Bella Union for a Mother's Day brunch.
When I pulled up my road there was Dave, the brush hog guy, on his way to cut my pastures....
Here's a Smilebox of the events of yesterday....

Eat What You Want Day
Let's see.... I want an artichoke and asparagus and pasta!

What would you like to have to eat today? Okay, great.....health permitting, go ahead and have any and all of your favorite foods and snacks. Because today is Eat What You Want Day.
Eat What You Want Day is definitely not a day for diets.  It is one single, solitary day in the year to go off your diet and eat something you really enjoy, Today, you can set aside your dietary "No-No" list. Today, you can splurge. Tomorrow, it's back to the diet. It is important to note that today is not intended to eat as much as you want. Rather, the goal is to eat something you otherwise wouldn't have. If you are watching carbs or calories, simply keep within your limits by eating just a small amount of that favorite treat.
Caution: People with allergies and/or medical conditions, may not be able to fully participate in this day. Simply said: Do not risk your health to participate in this day.

"Something" already celebrated "Eat what you want day" by mowing down the cucumber. Just one leaf left on 2 plants.

Really enjoyed the Smilebox! Amazing how many actors die at an early age. All that fame and fortune must be bad for one's health!!

I always smile thru your Smileboxes! Great to spend time with the kids. Looks like you had a great time and love your hanging plant. Great gift!

mmmm artichokes! We could eat them every night but alas they are so expensive! Once in a while they have a sale and I scarf up! :)

Tonight will be the leftovers from our wonderful Mexican BBQ yesterday!
