Downtown GP Cam ~ Inbred ~ Hummers ~ Tim's Leather ~ Porch/Dude/Swallow/Bruiser ~ Zac Hannan ~ Dale Albright

Good 41º looks like it may be sunny morning.
Yesterday the clouds lingered, but it warmed to 70º and was lovely.

Today is Boatnik in Grants Pass. Here is the link to the live camera facing downtown. The parade starts at 10am. You can watch it here if you want....
Of course it's not that close and no sound!

Was checking a lens on my camera and got these hummers busy at work...

This was 9:30am...

Took a quick trip into town...needed prescriptions, chicken thighs (for Dude), sugar for hummingbird food, and Greek Yogurt for breakfast. In the parking lot of the market was a truck with Washington state plates. He had a sticker that made me chuckle..

I stopped in Tim Alden's leather shop in town. He had a women in there he was teaching about leather work. She made this purse...
Really neat for no leather experience!
Back home and made labels to put on the boxes of gun forms that will be shipped to Jay at American Holster in Michigan. Tim will be over this weekend to help box up the gun forms.
Then I copied off some Laughlin photos I promised to send to my pal Pat Goslin (formerly of Avalon, Catalina) of people she knew (Bonnie Dunlop and Storm Murcott) and got those in an envelope to mail.
Next.... some vacuuming. UGH! Vacuumed the front porch and decided it was so nice out there, I'd pour a wine and enjoy it....
Hi Mom....
Little swallow keeping an eye on Bruiser because his nest is in a birdhouse on the porch....
Natch Bruise takes over Dude's bed!

Today Mike's grandson, Zac Hannan, from Grants Pass High is at the state track meet, in Eugene. It's day two. This was last week when he qualified for state finals:

A friend, Dale Albright, former ER doctor at Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass has cancer. He's been fighting it for some time and he's not gaining. His son Drew just graduated medical school. Dale couldn't be at his graduation, and watched it via skype, so Drew came to GP so dad could place his hood on him. Dale's medical school graduation was in 1986.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

Lucky Penny Day

And the back of the 2014 penny:

It's Lucky Penny Day. Perhaps a Lucky Penny will be lucky for you today.
Taken at face value, a penny doesn't buy you much, if anything. It used to. During your parents and grandparents days, a penny bought a lot of things. Most notably, Penny Candy got its name because a piece of candy cost a penny. Inflation year after year after year, eroded the penny's value. There has even been some discussion as to whether to discontinue the penny....Heaven forbid!
The penny still serves a very useful purpose...  at least some of them are lucky pennies.  Lucky pennies are found on the ground. Not all of the pennies you find will be lucky. But, it will only take one lucky penny used to scratch off the mega winner on a a scratch-off ticket.
Are you superstitious? Superstition has it that you should only pick up a penny that is lying face up.
Here are some other uses for pennies:
  • A penny for your thoughts.
  • To put your "two cents" in.
  • A necessity for penny pinchers
  • A handy screwdriver when nothing else is available.

Blessings for Dr. Dale who couldn't be at his son's graduation from medical school. That made me so sad. Congratulations to Drew. What a proud moment for his dad.

John told me about your photos of your hummers before I saw your blog. We had to chuckle at the one at the feeder. We have two feeders up next to each other and a huge one across the yard on another tree. Honestly. it looks like LAX around the feeders or a bee hive. He fills them up at night and before noon they are all empty! We pend a bundle on sugar! LOL They are fun to watch tho. The little pigs! One will even sit on his hand while he's hanging them.

Say, doesn't Bruiser have his own bed on the porch? He's so funny curled up in Dude's bed like he owns it. Funny!

Yes, I know Dale was busting his buttons!

WOW, you have a ton of hummingbirds. You must be the only ones feeding them in your neighborhood! As for the sugar, yes it's $$ but cheaper if you buy it at Costco.

And yes, Bruiser has his own bed on the porch, but likes to rule the roost over Dude!!! xo

LOL Dude should lie on Brusier's bad if it's big enough. Bruiser would probably get mad at him! LOL

Yes John does buy it at Costco when he's there but in the mean time I picked up a big bag at Albertson's and it was over $16. It sure doesn't last long around here!
