New Gate ~ Flies Gone ~ Garlic Knot Bread ~ Live Osprey Cam ~ Penguin Day

Good 41º cloudy/foggy morning. Rain possible...but the radar shows the rain clouds are moving east... Got some drizzle yesterday late.

Yesterday was haircut with Leah. She told me about a fabulous recipe for Overloaded Cauliflower she made and posted on her FB page. She has to eat gluten free and this one was right up her alley. Even her Jordan LOVED it! Will post tomorrow. After the haircut I stopped at Brian's office to wish Emily a Happy Birthday. Then home...  Here's my new gate...
Old gate on the left. Neighbor's son is coming to get it for his pasture.

I have not had any more flies for three days. I am so HAPPY!!! Here are the fly papers in my bathroom. This is not all the flies, I did whack a lot of them with the flyswatter!

I will take them down now and wash the windows. UGH.

Trish sent me this recipe. I am drooling and will definitely make this. Somebody have a party and I'll bring this!!!
Garlic Knot Bread

Ingredients:
2 tubes Pillsbury Grands biscuits
2 T olive oil
1 stick unsalted butter
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 t. dried Italian seasoning
1 t. garlic powder
1/4 t. salt
1/2 cup pizza sauce
10-12 cup Bundt pan
Preheat oven to 350º. Cut each of the 16 biscuits into quarters, making 64 pieces. Pour olive oil into bottom of the Bundt pan. Combine the butter, Parmesan, garlic, seasoning, garlic powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Dip each piece of the dough into the butter mixture and place in the pan. Bake 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Remove bread from oven and let cool 15 minutes. Turn out onto plate. Stuff a small dish or piece of aluminum foil into the bottom of the hole and fill with pizza sauce. Pull pieces of garlic bread off and dip in sauce.

Live Osprey Cam:
After wintering in South America the Hog Island Ospreys have returned to Maine, settling into their Hog Island nest. The pair, nicknamed Rachel and Steve, arrived home in late April and have begun their courtship rituals; Steve is gathering sticks and soft nest lining materials such as lichensand bark and Rachel is using these prepare the nest for eggs which are expected any day.

Osprey are the only birds of prey whose diet consists almost entirely of fish. Rachel will do most of the incubating and during this time, Steve will provide her with most of her meals. Their bonding will lead to upwards of 160 mating attempts through the weeks that will eventually produce a clutch of two to four eggs. The eggs will hatch after an incubation period of 35-42 days. During incubation and chick rearing, the eggs and chicks are seldom left alone- even at night to protect the chicks from predators. About fifty days after hatching, the young begin exercising their wings then take their first practice flights from the nest. In early September, the young will begin their solo journey from Maine, heading south along the Atlantic Flyway, passing through the Caribbean to winter in South America - See more at:

Your new gate looks snazzy! I am sure the price was too. :)

Let me know when you make that Italian roll/dip dish. Looks so yummy but you need a party for that one.

Glad your flies are gone. We had a little moth infestation. We finally went on a hunt and found the culprit in the kitchen pantry. UG! Then it was tiny knats. Rotten potato in the family room pantry! Ug again! Don't you wonder where and how they get in?
