Weather ~ Super Bowl Sunday ~ Old Gas Stations ~ Bruiser Video ~ Waffle Eggs ~ Soup

Good 38º cloudy foggy morning. Looks like rain for us...

.... and for other places....

I cannot believe it's February already!

Well, today is the biggie...

GO PATRIOTS!!!!

                                                       LOL

Yesterday I vacuumed and mopped. Such fun. Hard boiled eggs to make deviled eggs. Experimented with waffle iron and eggs. Made some soup.

These old gas station photos came from George Bachmeier (LASD ret) and they are fabulous!

Here is 8 seconds of Bruiser on my computer checking everything out...

At noon I was hungry for eggs... saw this video on Olga's FB page...
So I tried the eggs... I mixed 1/2 cup egg beaters with some feta cheese and Jimmy Dean cooked sausage/bacon crumbles.. Spray waffle iron generously with cooking spray.

They tasted great but this is a pain. I'd rather cook them in a non-stick pan, the normal way. I like cookies and brownies and biscuits in the waffle iron, not eggs.

I wanted more soup so decided to make my own yesterday.. Used two cartons of chicken stock, dried chicken soup mix, dried mushrooms, dried green beans, dried bell peppers, garlic, and onions (all Harmony House from Added in a can of chicken and I added half a package of mushroom egg noodles. Turned on the crock pot on low for 5½ hours.

Decided to do the "cream cheese thing" again, so added in the other half tub of the bacon flavor and a whole tub of the jalapeño cream cheese.... stir in until well melted..  if you don't like spicy... don't use the jalapeno!
This soup it AWESOME!
Piggie me had two servings!!!

National Baked Alaska Day
BAKED ALASKA
A masterpiece of chemistry: ice cream, cake and meringue baked in the oven until the meringue browns. Ice cream, in a rectangle or  mounded in a pie plate, is covered on all sides with slices of sponge cake or pound cake, which is then covered with meringue. The entire dessert is then placed in a 425°F oven just long enough to firm the meringue—three or four minutes. The meringue is an effective insulator, and in the short cooking time needed to finish the dessert, it prevents the ice cream from melting. The concept was developed by the Chinese, who used pastry as the insulator; a Chinese delegation introduced it to Paris in the nineteenth century. The American physicist Benjamin Thompson then investigated the heat resistance of beaten egg whites, and, in 1804, demonstrated that beaten egg whites were a better insulator.

The dish was named Omelette Surprise or Omelette à la Norvégienne, the Norwegian attribution owing to the “arctic” appearance and cold center. Delmonico’s Restaurant in New York City renamed it named Baked Alaska in honor of the newly acquired Alaska territory. Make your own with this Baked Alaska recipe.

LOL Sue, yes I have cooked for many many years but doesn't mean I like it. It's my least favorite thing to do. I have always said I would gladly clean my own house if I could have a full time cook! :(

In earlier years I used to fuss about cooking to my mother. She told me to get used to it because I had FIVE males too cook for and HER! OK then it was a required duty. I do love to see your meals, recipes and enjoy watching you enjoy. :)
