Maintenance Mike ~ Chicken Crock*Pot Casserole ~ Football ~ Lydia ~ Phil ~ Spaghetti!

Good 34º nothing frozen morning. YEAH! We even had blue sky yesterday. Here is almost 5pm...

Yesterday Mike (RR Fire Chief ret.) called and said he'd be over to stack wood for me and clean out the gutters. I flew around here getting organized. He got here and started in. My porch is stacked high with wood now!
And the gutters are clean. YEAH!

Mike has a grandson who is in the Marines. I gave Mike a USMC hat... 1. to keep his punkin head warm   and 2. to show off! AND.... I wanted to take his picture on a ladder.... how apropos for a Fireman!

The last person who cleaned out the gutters used a leaf blower. What a jerk. It blew leaves and mud and crap all over the porch railings and porch. I was soooooooooooo unhappy. Never again.

Then Mike and I went down and took a look at the battery that operated my electric gate. Mike tested it and yep, still had power, but no water. So he filled it with distilled water and WHOOOOOP the gate opened and closed!!! I am a happy camper now. Thanks Mike!

liked her in Legends of the Fall with Brad Pitt and in Kitt Kittredge:An American Girl Mystery...

Dinner wasn't the combo I talked about doing yesterday. I found some chicken thighs in the freezer and decided on something else.....

I had some 'Butter Chicken' simmer sauce. Put that in the bottom of the casserole Crock*Pot, topped it with the chicken.. Then added some reconstituted garlic slices, diced bell pepper, baby carrots, and crumbled bacon. Drizzled on lemon juice. Cooked on high 7½ hours.

It's realllllly good but not that fond of the Butter Chicken simmer sauce. Next time I will use the cheese simmer sauce or the pesto simmer sauce. Still in all... YUMMMMY!!!! Cooked up some white rice to serve it on.

Football yesterday...

I was really rooting for the Cardinals and the Steelers. My friend Suzanne (Santisteven) was for the Ravens and Panthers. Guess she got it right! Well, you know, being a Bears fan! (LOL Suz!)

Football today...

Two birthdays today... my friend Diamond Bar Lydia is celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY L!!! oxox Check out her blog.... she is gardener/writer extraordinaire  ...

And friend Phil Santisteven (LASD ret. and hubby of the infamous Suzanne!) is also celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHIL! xoxo

This was Phil's New Year's celebration photo... how he kept his champagne cold...

All I know. Happy Sunday. Nuff said. Ciao.

National Spaghetti Day
(Be still my heart!)

While the origins of this annual occasion are unknown, National Spaghetti Day is dedicated to the long and thin noodle comprised of semolina and water. Folks have been enjoying pasta for centuries. Whether you buy it in a box, in the refrigerated aisle at your local grocery store or make it from scratch, Americans love their pasta! More than 1 million pounds of spaghetti was sold in America’s grocery stores back in 2000

Whether you prefer yours drenched in a spicy marinara sauce, loaded with meatballs or topped with tasty cheese , today is the perfect day to feel a little saucy and experiment with a few tried-and-true or brand new sauces and pasta recipes. Happy National Spaghetti Day! Bon appétit! And speaking of special days. Today is also National Trivia Day!

Here are 4 recipes... plus more if you explore these recipes....

Each one made me drool!!!!

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYDIA!! Love that pic of her. Probably the best one I have seen. Of course the photog was good too. :)

Those spaghetti dishes set my mouth to watering! When John and I were at Costco to buy our Christmas pies he tossed into our basket some very yummy and different looking meatballs. I just might have to cook up some pasta and have those tonight. Perfect! :)

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I forgot about the picture Trisha took of me wearing makeup, hair done and a fur coat.
