Dec 31st Astronomy ~ Auld Lang Syne ~ Bruiser Then & Now ~ 2015 Wishes

Good 19º (!) colder than yesterday morning by 3º. Sheeeesh.... I keep singing the song from Frozen!

Interesting:

Imagine, tonight is New Year's Eve! Where did this year go so fast?? I received this from Lynn Helbing (LASD ret) and am sharing it with all of you. My Scottish blood gets all goofy hearing the pipes!

The new year, 2015, has already been celebrated in New Zealand and Australia and parts of Russia.

PICTURE OF THE DAY:
Just heard last night from my pal Linda (Nantz) that she and Andy have two rescued Siamese kittens... a boy and a girl. (Can't remember their names!) She said they are sooooooooo sweet and loving.

Yesterday I made a quick (sans makeup!) run to the pharmacy for some special shampoo and skin cream my dermatologist recommended. Old age! Almost 70! Falling apart!!!! UGH. Back home after the 'run' and made cards for upcoming birthdays. Organized my Christmas cards. Looked at the bills, but decided to do those today.

Speaking of cats....    I posted this in 2011 on this date..
At one point the rain started coming down really hard and I saw the feral kitty run like mad towards the barn and the opening under one stall to get out of the rain. Then a little later the rain subsided and out came kitty .... on the hunt...

Here he is, yesterday morning, on top of my computer! At first he's kinda nosey...

Then he gets comfy and keeps an eye on everything I do. If he lays down on my desk on my arm (!) I turn on a youtube video of cats and he is mesmerized!

Dinner was those yummmmy reruns! May make up something for tonight. Speaking of tonight... my usual New Year's routine is a snuggy fire, the east coast channel at 8:30pm to watch the ball drop in NY here at 9pm! Then a nap in my chair. Tomorrow morning will be coffee, cherry cake, and the Rose Parade! May 2015 be good to us all. May the New Year bring rest and peace and good health. My wish for not only my family and friends but for the whole world.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy last day of 2014. Ciao.

December 31st
National Champagne Day

The rule of thumb: If it’s imported from France and it says Champagne, it’s Champagne. Otherwise, it’s another type of sparkling wine. Champagne can only be made in Champagne region of France.
Champagne varies in sweetnessThe sweetness of the dosage that is added before corking creates the level of sweetness (or dryness) of a Champagne. The word brut on the label means dry. Brut, Extra Brut and Brut Nature (little or no dosage) are the driest styles. Sweet Champagnes are hard to find, but they can be identified by the words Extra Sec (Extra Dry) Sec, Demi Sec and Doux. They go well not just with dessert, but with courses like foie gras that are traditionally paired with sweeter wines. By the same token, a very dry Champagne is not a good match for a sweet dessert. It would pair with anything a dry white wine would go with.

Want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and the best for 2015.
Thanks for your blog each and every day. I know we don't comment as much as you would like us too, but that does not mean we don't enjoy the read each day. Your hard work and devotion is appreciated.
Have a wonderful last day of 2014 and we will toast later from our chairs. LOL xo

I posted a comment on your blog, but forgot to mention those kittens are so darn cute. I keep going back and looking at them. And also, “The Bruise” has come a long way! He sure was roaming the right area! Have a wonderful day. xo= Jeannie

I say ditto to what Jeannie said! Yes your blog is a wonderful way to start every day! Thank you for that!

For a gal who isn't a "cat person" I just love hearing and seeing pic of Bruiser! To me he is a miracle story. SUCH a pretty kitty! My friend Felicia Tweedy has done the same thing you did with taming Bruiser. He isn't an inside kitty because her German Shepard Eva wouldn't sit still for that but she takes such good care of the kitty and now he just loves her.

HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR back at cha!! Enjoy your New Year's Eve!

XOXO Trisha

I don't know what is better or worse.. a dog that won't tolerate a cat or a cat that won't tolerate a dog! Bruiser and his extra toes (with claws) scare the heck out of Dude! Dude is very respectful and stays out of Bruiser's way. xoxo
