Large Wine? ~ In-N-Out Drool ~ Marinated Mushrooms ~ World Series ~ GP Cavemen vs S. Eugene Starring Zach

Good 52º windy rainy morning. Heard the rain and wind all night.
Warmed up yesterday. By 2:30 it was 74º and sunny.

I had to laugh when I looked at the box my new phone came in... it's a LG (Large?) Wine III (Wine???) OMG, it's a Large Wine! Yes!!

PICTURE OF THE DAY...
Oh In-N-Out ... how I love thee, let me count the ways.....

Yesterday was clean clean clean. Gosh how I HATE housework! Guess I should hire someone? Not. I have friends who have housekeepers and have for a long long time. Must be nice! Back in the day when I worked, raised children, cooked, did yard work, and cleaned the house.... ugh. It was a lot of work, but it was easier then. Younger~!

************************************************
These are the BEST... the recipe appeared in Epicurious in 1998 and I have made them ever since!
Ruth's Marinated Mushrooms

2 parts oil (salad oil, or 1/2 salad oil and 1/2 olive oil.. I use all olive oil)
1 part lemon juice
1 clove garlic, crushed
salt
ground pepper
Worchestershire sauce
basil
oregano
chopped parsley
mushrooms

Dry mushrooms thoroughly. If brown, soak in mixture of one part lemon juice to three parts water to bleach.

Mix oil, lemon juice, crushed garlic in a bowl. Add mushrooms. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with Worchestershire sauce. Add several pinches of basil, oregano, and chopped parsley.

Let marinate at least two hours in refrigerator or one hour out. Stir while marinating.

.... one of the worst things about Cuba being Adam Henry's is that the cigar smokers don't get to savor those awesome Cuban stogies!

We used to go to Rau's down on Beverly to get Jerry's cigars. Hand rolled with Cuban tobacco by Cuban ladies! And they had the wildest coffee they served us. It was only about a shot glass full, but it kept you pumped up the rest of the day! POTENT.

Tomorrow is Football Sunday. My Pats are playing d'Bears! OMG. That will be scary!!!

(Thanks Hilomi for this!!!)

The World Series game last night between San Francisco and the KC Royals was a nail biter. Royals 3, SF 2. The pitcher for the Royals, Jeremy Guthrie, is a local boy. He was born in Roseburg Orgegon, just north here of Grants Pass. He was raised and went to high school in Ashland.
His folks were interviewed on our local news. They traveled to SF for the game. So proud of him. That poor boy only makes a salary of $8,000,000!!! WHAAAAA....? That new stadium is awesome. AT&T Park is at 24 Willie Mays Plaza! LOL. Go Willie Go Willie Go Willie Go!
The announcer said if you have "bad seats" (you know, the nose-bleed section) you have the best views... I guess. Wow!

Last night was Homecoming for Rogue River High and Grants Pass High. Brian and Tucker were going to the GP game. Grants Pass Cavemen beat South Eugene 70-14 !!!! My pal Jennifer's Mike (former RR Fire Chief and also friend of mine) his grandson, Zachary Hannan, is the RB (#23) for the team!!! WOW! Great job!

And a good weather evening for all. No rain until much later!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

Topper - "Host to said ghosts". One of my all time favorites!

I was always amazed that the daughter of Ricky Nelson wasn't more attractive. She had such beautiful parents!

James Carville - Serpent Head!!!
Bill O'Reilly has him on pretty regularly just to disagree with him most of the time. LOL

p.s. IF you have to have a code now to make a comment, thank you for making it so easy to read. Some are crazy!

Bleach in ingredients is a first):- I know, not really in ingredients, but it made me chuckle at myself when the eyes leaped to it being in the text with meatballs.

The World Series is much better when you have a link to it- local hero, whatever.

I had an English professor who thought the salaries on the sportspage were made up. I tried to reach him when Gerry's brother was a pitcher to tell him that these salaries are for real- and public record. Alas, the man who gave me an A+ had died. Too many leave this plant too early- what their salary was- if that is what they are remembered for- that is a sad commentary on what a life meant.
