Animal Thieves ~ Mike & Jennifer ~ Giants & Royals ~ Green Tomato Pasta ~ Sunday Football ~ Navy Day ~ American Beer

Good 46º supposed to be clear today morning. Yesterday had it moments....

Just cloudy today and a chance of rain tomorrow and rain on Wednesday. The Dept of Forestry has some burn piles up in the trees behind my property in the BLM. According to my neighbor the burn will take place today. Pretty wet up there. Wonder how that will work.
10-27 .. LASD radio code for "any return on number or subject?"

OMG, this video came from the Huntoons (Tally & Wilsonite Spencer ...also LACOFD ret) ... Thanks!! Hilarious!!

Bruiser was laying on my arm while I watched this and he intently watched it also!
Yesterday Mike and Jennifer came over. Dude gets so excited when we have company he almost climbed in their car and into Jennifer's lap!  We had snacks and wine and chatted. Dude was in love with Mike. Well, Mike gave him all his attention! LOL. No wonder. I had the heat on for a bit but then the sun came out and it warmed up. I had them taste the 360 Buttered Popcorn Vodka that I got recently. It's good but everyone I have told about it says things like, "Ewwwww...." Come on people, don't judge before you taste! Jennifer was totally SURPRISED at how good it was. So was Mike! Now they are going to buy some! LOL. Jennifer made a Brussels sprout salad. I am not a fan of Brussels sprouts, but this was really good. She grated the sprouts and had a lemony dressing. I told her I want the recipe! See, another leap to judgement prior to tasting!
The SF Giants did a big comeback again in game 5 of the World Series against the KC Royals winning 5-0. Next games are Tuesday and Wednesday 8pm ET, in Kansas City ... 5pm out here in the West. Broadcast on FOX.

I made the Green Tomato Soup (my concocted recipe!) yesterday in the crockpot. I chopped up about 8 cups of green tomatoes. Put in crockpot with a box of chicken stock. Added in 7 cleaned (veins and seeds removed) and chopped jalapeño peppers and about 1 cup of dried garlic/onion/red pepper flakes that had been reconstituted and used when I infused olive oil. I drain and save those items and freeze them to add to recipes later. I also added in about 10 small whole peeled garlic cloves..

After the ingredients had cooked for a couple hours I added in bacon crumbles and 6 stalks of chopped celery (in the picture below that is only 3 stalks!)

About 4 hours into the cooking I added in half a package of Raditore Pasta
and the jar of Prego Artisan Three Cheese. Cooked for about another 3 or so hours on low. I didn't add salt or pepper until the cooking was done and I tasted it. Actually this can't be called Green Tomato Soup...it's Green Tomato Pasta!
For a "vegetable" pasta dish this is REALLY GOOD!!!!! Green tomatoes, whodda thought!
Football yesterday was......

October 27th
Navy Day

Many nations around the world celebrate their navies, with a special day dedicated to them. Each country selects a date relevant to their navy, often the birth date of the navy.
In the United States, Navy Day is commonly celebrated on October 27th.  This date was selected as it was the birth date of  President Theodore Roosevelt, an avid supporter of the U.S. Navy. In the 1970's, research determined that the birthday of the U.S. Continental Navy was October 13, 1775. At the time, efforts were made to move Navy Day to this date. However, Navy Day in the United States, is still largely recognized as October 27th.
On Navy Day,  give some well deserved attention to your proud U.S. Navy, and to the sailors who serve our country.......Salute!
and....
American Beer Day

HEY.... all you former Navy guys... have a beer today!!!

Happy Birthday Theodore. We are a better nation that you once were at the helm.
