VJ Day ~ Old Ladies ~ Girls Lunch ~ Blueberry Popsicles

Good 49º wispy cloudy morning. Yesterday hit 93º by late afternoon. Today will probably be the same, even though "they" say it will only be in the 80ºs.

VJ Day September 2, 1945.....

Hard to see, sorry, but that's me being held by the nurse on the right. This was on the front page of the Los Angeles Herald Examiner. VJ Day was BIG and I was the first baby born in Los Angeles on that date (2:03am) and my name would have been posted with this photo if it had been Virginia Jane or Valerie June or some VJ name, but Susan Leslie didn't cut it!

This is apropos for this day. All my girlfriends of this ilk (my generation) will enjoy and laugh. Sent to me by Nancy (Kujala.. Wilson '63) Thanks Nancy! Still laughing!
Old Ladies by Donnalou Stevens:

You know, this is scary... I have never been this old before! So instead of celebrating my "birthday" I am celebrating the 39th anniversary of my 30th birthday!

Yesterday Jeannie threw a birthday lunch for me. Girls only! AWESOME Quiches, salads, and wine!
Jeannie's mailbox:

Such a GREAT friend!

Jeannie made 3 quiches... crustless, quiche Lorraine, and a tomato quiche. OMG they were sooooooooooooooooooooo good! She also made a red cabbage salad (with a Northwoods dressing!), spinach salad with strawberries (!!), and coleslaw.

Such a wonderful group of friends. I am Blessed!
I wanted a group photo, but one of us had to be behind the camera, so we took two. I took one picture and Dee took the other.... then I "played with them"....LOL

L-R: Nancy, Jeannie, Kathy, Donna, me or Dee, PJ, Jennifer, and Dee or me!

Thank you ladies. You are ALL so special to me!!!!! ♥♥
The cake: Was I crying? How'd I get these numbers on my cake??????

Thank you Jeannie! Thank you girlfriends! I loved all the funny cards. What a blast! ♥

... the Japanese surrendered on my Mother's birthday, August 15th... and signed the treaty on my birthday! Cool. AND then my Brian was stationed aboard the Mighty Mo when he was a Marine. Anti-terrorist watch, guarding the atomic weapons during the Gulf War ... Marine Detachment.

1998 – Swissair Flight 111 crashes near Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia. All 229 people on board are killed.

... when visiting Nova Scotia a few years ago I saw the memorial that has been placed there. Peggy's Cove is a beautiful little town with one of my favorite light houses...

With so many tourists walking around it wasn't easy to get a shot of the lighthouse without peeps in the picture. I had to lay down in the rocks to get this shot.

The light house shot is amazing. The blueberry Popsicles- that somehow sounds like "food which attacks clothing."
