Yesterday morning I made deviled eggs to take to Brian and Jen's. Then out to the car to vacuum it .... dog hair in there since when I picked up Dude and the Bruise from the kennel! Did some other chores and headed to Brian's about 3pm.

The Bruise was laying under the boat watching me as I left...

Jen cooked a super good roast of beef (half barbecue and half oven) and had lots of fresh veggies and fruit. She and Sami had made cupcakes... lemon/blueberry...YUMMMM!!!! It was a good day for "Dad" to nap and watch TV...

While Jen was busy at the barbecue... Dad's Day and mom barbecues. Mom's Day and mom barbecues! LOL. Hmmmmm..... wonder why it works that way?

We ate outside. I had meat (sooooooooo tender it just melted in your mouth!), deviled egg, Jen's awesome potatoes!, cheese, pea pods, olives, zucchini, an amazing mayo/horseradish sauce, and pita chips. I took a bottle of a light Spanish wine and Jen and I shared that.

Really a great light red, sort of spicy, fruity. Got it at the Mercantile in Jacksonville.

The cupcakes!

Dad and Tucker stare down..

The view out their front room window shows all the clouds.. but nary a drop of rain. (Whew. Just had the truck washed!)

First serious .... then silly....

I had a nice chat with Jean, Jen's mom. She had just made a run to So. Cal also. Got stuck in a 2 hour traffic mess in the La Crescenta 210 Fwy area. UGH. Sami performed some of her gymnastics for me on the front lawn and then I headed home. Joy of joys, some idiot had run into my trash can... broke the can six ways to Sunday, trash EVERYWHERE... and some even across the road.
I drove up to the house and got trash bags. When I got back to the road my neighbor Frank was picking up the mess. THANK YOU FRANK! We got it all in the trash can, but it's broken beyond repair. Calling the trash company today so they can bring me a new one. What a pain. I finally got back in the house, dog fed (leftover pieces of the beef... OMG he was happy!), poured a wine and got into my chair, cat in my lap, after 8pm!

Then.... I watched a movie. OMG, first and last time I saw it was 1976 ... Dirty Harry The Enforcer.
Clint Eastwood was soooooooo good looking back then. The bad guy in the film was a character named Bobby Maxwell~! LOL. Good film. Loved it. Callahan running all over San Francisco with his 44 mag in his hand!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

Today is Fresh Veggies Day. Take a vow to eat healthy today (and everyday), with fresh veggies for every meal, and for snack, too. Better still, be a vegetarian for a day. Your body will like it.

Fresh vegetables are tasty, far better tasting than canned or frozen vegetables. They are also healthy and highly nutritious. This makes it easy to add fresh vegetables to the menu at every meal, and for snacking. This time of year, there are plenty of fresh vegetables at your local grocery store, or in your backyard vegetable garden.

Well guess I'm not the only wife who has to tend the BBQ. It's like pulling teeth to get dad to even go out and watch the meat while I'm working in the kitchen! Well, maybe that will change now. Yesterday he went and bought a new Kitchenaid BBQ and it's beautiful! Let's hope! :)

Cute photos! Hope Brian had a good Father's Day. Looks like he did.

Oh my you sure have nice neighbors! Sorry about the trash can but now you will get a nice new one.

Fresh squashes for us tonight with our leftover pork loin roast. Of course I will probably be the only one to eat the veggies! :(

LOL Trish... yes, Jerry was not interested in standing at the barbecue and keeping an eye on the cooking event either. I was the one who did it..... He did like using the smoker though... put in 10 pounds of charcoal, a pan of water, and 10 pounds of meat (turkey or beef) and let it cook 10 hours! Not too hard. oxxo
