More Rain ~ Sami's Frozen Party/Birthday Breakfast ~ Oscar Stuff ~ National Anthem

Good 48º raining morning. Rained hard in the night. We got 3/4" of that wet stuff so far. Looks like it might taper off a bit. Pressure going back up.

Boy howdy did the wind blow yesterday. Rained, hard at times too. All just for Sami and her birthday! LOL We (Brian, Jen, Tucker, Sami, Grandma Jean, and I) all went to Tap Rock for breakfast yesterday to celebrate with Sami. Here is the Smilebox I made... but first here is a picture of Sami 5 years ago... she was saying "sushi"!

Here are both celebrations on the Smilebox...

Watched the Oscars last night. That Jennifer Lawrence gal who fell on the steps on her way to get her Oscar last year

tripped and fell on the red carpet this year.
(in red dress being helped by LAPD motor officer)
Hmmmm.... either a clutz or can't walk in heels or snorts/smokes something!

Then there was the 81 year old Kim Novak... OMG.
Here are some tweets re her look...
Luke:"Sorry, but Kim Novak's plastic surgeon should be sued for malpractice."
Bob:"And the winner for special effects, Kim Novak's plastic surgeon."
Billy:"You know what guys, Kim Novak is 81 and she didn't fall down twice, unlike some other people I know."
Matty:"Anybody else find it ironic that Kim Novak gave Frozen the Oscar?"

Not only is her face frozen she acted like she's had a stroke!

And next .... Goldie Hawn... another plastic surgeon rip off! Her lips just look weird!

There was a lot of other stuff I wasn't fond of... the songs from the movies and how they were presented... Ellen romping around in the audience and taking "selfies" and distributing pizza. And Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club????? REALLY? Come on.............. There is more, but I'm done with "I'm wonderful I got an Oscar".

All I know. Gotta catch up today. Too much weekend partying... Nuff said. Ciao.

National Anthem Day

The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States of America. It was written by Francis Scott Key. National Anthem Day celebrates  this song, and the rich history behind its creation. The song officially became our national anthem on March 3, 1931.

Celebrate today by proudly flying the flag. Also listen to and sing the Star-Spangled Banner.

I enjoyed watching the Oscars and seeing all the gorgeous gowns. My favotire was the exquisite Sandra Bullock. She looked so like a glam star from back in the day when Hollyweird was glamerous! Now, what in the world is Whoppi thinking when she leaves her house? I am beginning to wonder if she owns a mirror!! Her "dress" looked like a jumper over a white blouse! Ohhh so tacky!! That hair!!! UG!!

What was neat is I was recording the show before I started watching so I was able to FF past a lot of crap! lol

Loved the Smile Box of Sami's party. Jen is absolutely amazing with her decor! Loved the place with all the animal statues. I'll bet the kids loved it all!
Thanks for sharing!

I Tivo'd mine too so I could get past the boring parts. You are right about Whoopi.... that necklace came from the dollar store! Not a snappy dresser, for sure. LOVED Sandra Bullock's dress. Awesome. She was so beautiful. Wish she had won.

Jen's parties are always special. xo

LOVED Sami's party! There were more good fashion moments than bad. Although, those that were bad were BAD. Why all the men wanting to look like prom dates from the '70's- tried to ignore them. Woopi should have taken a clue- if Julia Roberts couldn't pull off the black sheath over white blouse look a the Golden Globes... My favorite trend of the evening was the art deco influence- using tailoring and texture to sculpt a gown...Kate Hudson never looked better. Strapless is tough- Bullock's gown- how she flipped the one sided part opposite the flare in the gown- brilliant composition.

But my Favorites - the performance gowns worn by Pink and Bette Midler. Timelessly knock your nylons off beautiful.
