Good 52º raining morning. Looks like since the drizzle started
we've gotten a little over 1/4". Yes. Raining harder today. More more more!!!!

Super Bowl Sunday from a Marine Corps Colonel in
Afghanistan:
"So with all the kindness I can muster, I give this one piece of advice to the next pop star who is asked to sing the national anthem at a sporting event: save the vocal gymnastics and the physical gyrations for your concerts. Just sing this song the way you were taught to sing it in kindergarten - straight up, no styling. "Sing it with the constant awareness that there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines watching you from bases and outposts all over the world. Don't make them cringe with your self-centered ego gratification. Sing it as if you are standing before a row of 86-year-old WWII vets wearing their Purple Hearts, Silver Stars and flag pins on their cardigans and you want them to be proud of you for honoring them and the country they love - not because you want them to think you are a superstar musician. They could see that from your costume, makeup and your entourage. Sing 'The Star Spangled Banner' with the courtesy and humility that tells the audience that it is about America, not you. And please remember, not everything has to be sung as a Negro spiritual. We're getting a little weary of that. Francis Scott Key does not need any help."

Last
night's dinner was popcorn, drizzled with melted butter and sprinkled with
grated yellow and white cheese! Sigh...
Night
before last in the rice cooker I put Jasmine rice and red rice and a cut up
shallot. In a frying pan I sauteéd mini squash, celery, green beans, mushrooms,
and a small onion with garlic olive oil, roasted garlic seasoning, and roasted
garlic sea salt.
Mixed
in the cooked rice and shallot, then I added in some canned chicken (Bruiser was
happy happy with the water drained off the chicken!)
Mixed
in some sweet chili sauce and about 1/3 cup orange
sauce.....
You
know me, the fewer the pots the better. This was OMGOOD!!!!!
I sooooo screwed up on yesterday's blog. I put historical facts and birthdays that should have gone on today's. Sorry about that. I'll get it right tomorrow, I promise.
A year ago today the summit looked like this:
..... and today....
Yesterday was a trip to Medford for an annual
rheumatologist appointment. All okie dokie. Then back to Roe Motors because
after they worked on my truck last week there was a horrible noise coming from
the rear of the vehicle when I put my foot on the break. As it turned out they
back brakes were all screwed up and the rotors torn. Apparently the guy who
inspected them got his a** chewed out royally! Sigh.... so I sat in the lobby
for almost 4 hours while they got fixed. One good thing, there were two
gentlemen (one with a super sweet dog... Merlin) and a lady and we all had a
great time chatting...... Nice people. She and her husband both officers in the
military, a son a US Marshal and one Border Patrol. The gentleman with the dog
had sons working for Border Patrol also. The second gentleman was so
knowledgeable about several subjects. We were all on the same side with our
politics! Former Californians too!! That made it nice.

Sorry for your long wait for the brakes but I had to chuckle. You are like me. Such a people person making friends everywhere you go and finding out you are on the same political side! Love it!
Yummy looking one pot dinner! I love that too! Looked soooo good! You must have been full from lunch to not have that again for dinner and just have popcorn.
Loved the Star Spangled Banner rant too! Oh how I agree!!
