Smoke ~ Plumber ~ Electrician ~ Hummers ~ Crab Stirfry

Good 56º deathly smokey morning! We have a chance of thunderstorms on the way. The pressure dropped last night but it's going up as we speak. The smoke yesterday afternoon....
...and it was 97º. Today is supposed to be hotter... ugh.

Yesterday my plumber friend, Mike Artoff, was here. He put a new faucet on outside. It was old and leaking. He also fixed the leak in the kitchen sink. Thanks Mike!
(Mike with his dad a few years back...)

Later in the afternoon Jake Wardel, electrician, was here. He took the light down off the tree in front so Chris can come back and take down the tree.

Jake will be back and install a pole for the light. Having one in the front yard keeps the bears away!! Besides I can see what's out there! Like a street light, sort of. There is one on each end of the barn and up at the pump house. They come on automatically when it gets dark and off when it's light.

Historically this date..

      ....interesting story....

1945World War II: Hiroshima, Japan is devastated when the atomic bomb "Little Boy" is dropped by the United States B-29 Enola Gay. Around 70,000 people are killed instantly, and some tens of thousands die in subsequent years from burns and radiation poisoning.

1960Cuban Revolution: Cuba nationalizes American and foreign-owned property in the nation.

1964Prometheus, a bristlecone pine and the world's oldest tree, is cut down.

2012NASA's Curiosity rover lands on the surface of Mars.

And births this date include...
1881Leo Carrillo, American actor (d. 1961)

1902Dutch Schultz, American mobster (d. 1935)

1911Lucille Ball, American actress (d. 1989)

1928 – Andy Warhol, American artist (d. 1987)

This came from Tally Huntoon (Wife of Spencer LACOFD ret, Wilson High W'63) ... fascinating.... How hummingbirds eat...

Last night dinner was stirfry. I like the fake crab (I know Gator, the real thing is better, but this is a good price and tastes good!). I sauteéd the mushrooms with some green peppers (from Jeannie's garden), added the crab with a diced tomato (seeds and liquid center removed) ... added in the noodles and sauce mix. YUMMMMMM!!!!!

Today it's an eye doctor appointment. I think I need an upgrade on my glasses. We'll see what the doc says. Besides I need to get my driving glass repaired, as Dude decided to chew on the temple on one side. Sigh...

All I know. Happy Tuesday. Nuff said. Ciao.

Interesting story of the judge's disappearance. Thought he had run off with his showgirl mistress but then it said she was giving interviews. Weird.

I will never understand the over rated (IMHO) Andy Warhol pictures which were weird and strange and simple to say the least.

YUM! Dinner looked marvelous! Love stirfry!!

Praying for those firefighters and hope they get that fire put out soon. UG!

Prayers for your firemen.

My writing friends in Idaho have been lamenting the air quality for the same reasons as you. We've had fires- but fortunately far enough to not give the smog competition in filling our lungs.

Warhol isn't fine art. It's pop art. Pretty much wasted on me.

Coke floats will be close enough tonight.

I Love Night Lighting !

Biggest and Cheapest Security Tool ever !
I keep my pool lit up all night every night.
23 years ago right after moving in I head voices, very subdued, while I was sleeping. Couldn't figure it out.......

Well,.... Guess what? 5 teenage boys and 2 girls were in my pool !

I snuck downstairs and out the front door.... Came through the opposite gate so they couldn't hear me and got right up to the pool deck. I hollered and yelled and fired off my shotgun up into the air......

They must have pissed themselves as they were trying to get over the fences to get away, I didn't want to physically catch one and I gave them a relaxed chase so they could get away. NEVER had that problem again. I knew who the parents were but never said anything to them... But the kids always gave my house a wide berth whenever they pass by. :-) Gator
