Vernal Equinox ~ Dogs In Cars ~ Doug ~ Sandy & Jerome ~ Gratitude ~ Maggie To Vets ~ Ravioli Spinach Mushroom Soup

Good 41º drizzly morning. Rain started about 3pm yesterday. Drizzle to hard rain. From the rain gauge looks like we got 1/4". More on the way. 100% today and 50% tonight.

Raining on my daffodils! Yep, that means Spring!

Today is traditionally the beginning of Spring... when the day and nights are of equal hours. Here called the Spring Equinox and in the southern hemisphere it's the Fall Equinox....

You will get a kick out of this video if you LOVE dogs!

Yesterday was my friend, Doug Breidenthal's birthday. Doug... a whopping 43 years old!!! Doug is our new Jackson County Commissioner. I worked for him during his campaign this past Fall. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOUG! On this one the voters got it right!!

And today is my old high school pal, Sandy (Todoran) and Jerome Beck's 31st Wedding Anniversary. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KIDS!

Now, don't tell me that welfare recipients aren't innovative! No reason to stand on your feet waiting to get your check.
Just put your flip-flops next in line and go back and sit on your ass and play games on your iPhone.
What a great country!

Historically this date...

The Republican Party, frequently called the GOP (for "Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, the other being the Democratic Party. Founded by anti-slavery activists in 1854, it dominated politics nationally for most of the period from 1860 to 1932. There have been 18 Republican presidents, the first being Abraham Lincoln, serving from 1861-1865, and the most recent being George W. Bush, serving from 2001-2009.

Currently the party's platform is generally based upon American conservatism, in contrast to the Democratic Party, who endorse more liberal policies. American conservatism of the Republican Party is not wholly based upon rejection of the political ideology of liberalism, as many principles of American conservatism are based upon classical liberalism. Rather, the Republican Party's conservatism is largely based upon its support of classical principles against the modern liberalism of the Democratic Party that is considered American liberalism in contemporary American political discourse. The history of American conservatism has been marked by tensions and competing ideologies. Fiscal conservatives and libertarians favor small government, low taxes, limited regulation, and free enterprise. HELLO!

Yesterday afternoon Maggie had what the vet called "a reverse breathing panic attack". I panicked. Called the vet's and said I was on my way and took her straight there. They had a room waiting and the doc was in there immediately. Maggie does have a blockage in her nose, have had it flushed before but a surgery is out of the question. It would require going to a vet in Medford and I just don't want to put her through that at her age. If this happens again I am to take her outside and get her mind off of it. It did stop once we got into the car. Geeeesh. My baby girl. After all she's 98~!

Since today is National Ravioli Day I decided to make a Mushroom Spinach Ravioli Soup for dinner. In the crockpot went a box of chicken stock, a can of Progresso Recipe Starters (Cheese), reconstituted mushrooms .. chopped, dried red onion, dried leeks, dried basil, and 5 cloves of garlic - grated. Cooked that on high for 2 hours and on low for 2 hours. Added in a couple cups of the mini-ravioli. Cooked another 90 minutes and added in two handfuls of baby spinach. Cooked about 30 minutes more. AWESOMELY GOOD!!! I also tossed in the leftover mushrooms and carrots from the corned beef dinner.

I can't say enough how good the Progresso Starters are... they come in 4 flavors, tomato, basil, mushroom, and cheese. They make any one pot meal great! I would imagine that just cooking some boneless skinless chicken thighs in a can of that Progresso and then having some red potatoes to put the sauce over would be magnificient.

All I know. Haircut day. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.

Sue,

Good explanation of what the Republican Party stands for! I love your "HELLO" at the end! lol Doesn't it make you wonder why in God's holy name anyone would want anything other than those principles??

Well, I guess that would be those flip flops lines up on the floor at the welfare office! OMG!!! Talk about lazy sitting there on their free phones!!

Sorry to hear Maggie had an attack. How scary is that! Poor old gal.

Thanks to George for the reminder video of how to say thank you to our heroes. I will remember to do that.

XO Trisha

T, I knew you'd like my little mini rant! As for our soldiers, you can't thank them enough.

Tammy, Maggie seems ok toay. She started that snorting thing and I called her name real loud and she stopped! Amazing. Good idea from the doc to distract her.
