Felix Clock ~ Pickled Green Tomatoes ~ Hilarious East/West College Bowl ~ Seafood Bisque Day

Good 46º cloudy morning. Difference from the 35º yesterday morning! Pressure up and down. We may get rain.

Satellite shows lots of clouds, but no radar..

10-19 is radio code for "Return to your station"

My order from Amazon came yesterday. My bathroom clock had died and I needed another one....so saw this and thought of Bruiser.....fun! His eyes go back and forth as his tail does....

Yesterday I was busy canning the green tomato pickles. Yummmmm.... These are the green tomatoes Bill & Jeannie gave me when they dismantled their garden for the season..

Cut tomatoes in half, peel garlic, cut jalapeños in half lengthwise and put them into the sterilized jars....

Then the liquid, a mix of 2 qts water, 1 qt vinegar, and 1 c. canning salt, is boiled for 5 minutes and then poured into the jars, lids attached and screwed on tight. Then they just sit until they seal. No water bath, as it makes them mushy. This way they stay crunchy.

You can see on the left there is what appears to be carrots in a jar...yes, baby carrots. I like them pickled too. When I was first making my Uncle Lloyd Mills' recipe, I would make the tomatoe pickles and also just pickled garlic for Brian. That was all he liked! Probably didn't have a lot of friends at that time! LOL Good but potent stuff!

Two hints.... when you are done with the garlic, and your hands are all stinky... get out a large stainless knife and under running water rub your hands all over the flat surface. It takes the garlic smell away! Really. Also, my friend Bill likes to put the pickle juice and a tomato in his martini. Yes it's good!!!

OMG, this came from Wilsonite (S'63) Jim Harper. Sooooooo funny. I am still laughing! Enjoy.

Those tomato pickles look yummy, and boy did you go to a lot of work. Thank you so much. I forgot to give you the jalapenos from the garden. So sorry.
Your clock is really cute. It does look like Bruiser. I so remember watching Felix the Cat long ago. Couldn't get enough of the theme song. LOL
Looking forward to Trader Joes, but need to wait for the crowd to die down. I like to look at stuff without a shopping cart in my rear, if you know what I mean.
Off to start my day. Hope your day will be grand. Good luck with that sink!

Funny about Bruiser, I keep going back to calling him "Baby". Ah well... Tonight is martini night, dirty with pickle juice and a green tomato! xo Happy Birthday to Eric. Sorry he didn't make the blog, but I will highlight him tomorrow. xoxo
