Dog Returns 500 Miles ~ Oyster Mushroom Fettuccine ~ Neither Rain Nor Snow Day

Good 49º morning. Hit 97º yesterday late afternoon. YUCK. Come on Fall~!

Hey, I forgot to mention how happy I was Wednesday night to see Dallas 24 beat the Giants 17 !!! Whoot whoot whoot!!!! Go Romo!

Here is a great story of a miraculous dog...

And then there was the DNC. The RNC was on 1 channel. The DNC was on all of them! That ticked me off. My regular programs I like were pre-empted. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....... Not to mention all the BS rhetoric and lies being told at that affair. Imagine Arab/Americans not wanting to recognize Jerusalem as the capitol of Isreal. Ha! Just gotta gag at that stuff... and on top of that the DNC chairman is Antonio Villaraigosa the ADAM HENRY Mayor of Los Angeles!!!!!

Historically this date...

1970 – Bill Shoemaker sets record for most lifetime wins as a jockey (passing Johnny Longden).

Dinner last night was interesting... and GOOD!
Fresh shucked oysters, mushrooms, and fettuccine ....

Reconstituted dried mushrooms. Sauteéd mushrooms
and oysters with onion in a little olive oil and butter. Added lemon juice. Added 1 can cream of mushroom soup. Added grape tomatoes and spinach. Cooked and added
fettuccine. Added cheese. Dished it up and licked the bowl!

All I know. Kristen recovering great from her surgeries is back home and has a new pup, Jasper

to keep Java company.....
Maggie is happy and recovering, Bruiser back from his 3 day hiatus and happy and eating everything. I'm happy the conventions are OVER! TGIF for all you working stiffs. Ciao.

Neither Rain Nor Snow Day
Right now, we bet you're thinking "this special day is about a tranquil weather day with neither rain nor snow" ....wrong.
Here's the real scoop on this special day:
Neither Rain Nor Snow Day celebrates the opening of the New York Post Office building on this day in 1914.
This following inscription was inscribed on the building: "Neither snow nor rain not heat nor gloom of night ,stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
Here is the second misconception: A lot of people assume the inscription represents the Post Office motto. This assumption is incorrect. But, this inscription is very close to the old Pony Express rider's motto. Which leads to a third misconception.. ......The Pony Express was not a government funded predecessor to today's Post Office. The Pony Express was a courier and message delivery service. However, it was privately owned and funded. Now that we have the history and trivia out of the way, let's go and enjoy the day. We hope you use Neither Rain Nor Snow Day to show your appreciation to your postal delivery people, especially those who walk their routes.

Sue,
I thoroughly enjoyed the "R" Convention but avoided the Dem one like the plague! It wouldn't have been good for my bp! I did switch to Fox for their commentary of everything but as soon as a speaker came to the screen I was outta there! I had some recorded O'Reilly shows that I would watch instead.
How can one party speak such untruths and those people believe it is beyond me!! Brainwashed comes to mind!

Did you make up your recipe or did you follow one? I believe I know the answer to that! LOL

Love Kristen's pups! So sweet! Glad she is home and on the mend!

XO Trisha

Thanks T. The recipe was sort of a combination of several I had looked at. Was thinking about making the oysters into a 'scalloped' casserold, but i LOVE pasta so went with that. This would be good to with bite sized pieces of cooked chicken.

I'm glad Kris is home too!!! xo

Last night was the first major speech of either political at a nominating convention I've ever not bothered to watch.

I'm more interested in the accomplishments. When I see the numbers on unemployment and actual numbers of employed- the trend. Those are the most important indicators of what to expect in the next 4 years if he's re-elected.
