Optometrist Visit ~ Quinoa Sprouted Rice Dinner ~ Brenda ~ Girlfriend's Day ~ SNOW?

Good 53º sunny morning.
I just can't believe it's August already! Groan................
Yesterday was a trip to the eye doctor for some new reading glasses. Been awhile since I have seen an Optometrist. I used to travel down to Medford (50+ miles round trip) but found one in Grants Pass... (less than 20 miles round trip!)
The techs do all the pre-doctor work. They do the tests, with a new fangled machine take pictures of your eyeballs insides, and ask you a myrid of questions ...

Then the doc comes in. OMG, this man looks like a teenager!
Dr. Jeffery Pelson!

Dr. Jeffery is just the NICEST man! He grew up in the Tigard Oregon area, was an Eagle Scout and served in the US Nuclear Navy.  He earned his optometry degree at the Pacific Universtiy College of Optometry in forest Grove, OR and did his residency at the Hampton Virginia VA Med Center. He is a fellow with the American Academy of Optometry and serves on Oregon State's Board of Optometry. Married with four children. I like him. Friendly and personable.

After all the tests he showed me the pictures and told me my eyes are perfect! No glaucoma or cataracts. Blood flow is great. Not the cause of my dizzies! One more thing to check off my list! My new reading glasses will be ready soon.
OMG, this is hilarious. This funny girl interviews her 2012 self in 2008....
So, I cooked some 'quinoa with sprouted rice' in the rice cooker and added some baby carrots to cook with the rice.

I heated some pre-cooked bacon in the microwave, cut up sweet peppers, baby cucumbers, grape tomatoes, and added some olives cut in half, and mushrooms, and cheese curds.

Next I made a dressing with mayonnaise, lemon juice, ginger, and sesame oil. Whisked it all together and incorporated with the rice mixture.

REALLY REALLY GOOD!

In December 1997 we bought this house. Jerry started moving up early in 1998. He made 17 trips with our 'stuff'...a lot of his shop machinery and tools came first. I moved here officially this date in 1998. Took a while to get our house in Temple City sold. Finally in July it happened. The last walk through I did was hard. I lived there 27 years.
Today is a very special friend's birthday... Brenda Flores is celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BREN!
She and I met when we worked at CF Braun Engineering in Alhambra (Fremont & Mission)

The old CF Braun property and buildings are now an "urban community". Check the link. Look at the pictures. OMG. Anyway, Bren and I became good friends. It was an experience working there. Lots and lots of nice people. The company built oil platforms, remodeled the Anhauser Busch facility in Los Angeles, built petroleum refining companies... The country of Kuwait was interested in the company for it's oil reserve holdings in the North Sea. After merging with Santa Fe, Braun was bought by Kuwait.
