Jackson County Fair ~ Lollipop Day

Good 57º cloudy morning.

Got a storm last night. In Grants Pass Jeannie said they had thunder and lightening. I never heard any thunder. Patty said at the coast they got a lot of lightening and thunder and hard rain. The rain started some time in the middle of the night. We got 1/4".

Going to be clear and warm up today. Yesterday at the Fair it was 91º.

Historically this date....
1940 – California opens its first freeway, the Arroyo Seco Parkway.

1969Apollo program: Apollo 11 successfully makes the first manned landing on the Moon in the Sea of Tranquility. Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin become the first humans to walk on the Moon almost 7 hours later. (US Time)

2012 – Masked gunman opens fire at a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Denver, Colorado, killing 14 and injuring 50. Columbine and now this!!! What is in the air in Colorado?????

And births this date include...
1938 – Natalie Wood, American actress (d. 1981)

1947 – Carlos Santana, Mexican-born American guitarist

and a bunch of other people......

The fair yesterday was fun. I met up with Leanne and got the patriotic jewelry we sell and the money box. Pat Tracy and I worked for 3 hours. The first thing I got was a Human Bean caramel mocha iced whipped...... (the stand was right outside the door of the building where we were...) OMGOOD!

Lots of people stopped by and chatted, signed up to help with election stuff. Bought jewelry.... even one of the ladies from the Democrat's booth bought a pin!! When Felicity showed up I left and made my rounds of the fair.

There was an enclosed Butterfly exhibit that you could go into and be with the butterflies.

There was a parrot act, complete with a pirate ship. The birds were loose and a couple of them flew around and around overhead for a bit. One flew past me and his wing hit my head!

'Rebel' was in training to be an "Air Dog"....

Here is the walkway outside one of the exhibition buildings... obviously a kitty came walking when the cement wasn't quite dry!

This lady said it was just a 'single' order of curly fries...

I stopped at the bee/wine booth and being a loyal SOW Sista, had a chardonnay toasting my BFF who couldn't join me....

All I know. Nuff said. Prayers to the people in Colorado!
