Flag Day ~ Moment of Truth ~ Carwash ~ Strawberry Shortcake

Good 42º clear as a bell morning. Going to be a warm one.

For some reason here in Orygun, we generally miss Spring and go right to Summer!

Today is Flag Day

Thirty-seven years ago today Jerry and I said our 'I do's in the courtyard of the Methodist Church on San Gabriel Blvd in San Gabriel.

Steve Voors was Jerry's best man and Sandy (Todoran-Kraut) Beck was my matron of honor. Kristen was the flower girl and Brian the ring-bearer. A lot of Jerry's friends couldn't get the time off, but showed up (on duty) and there was a line of radio cars out in front of the church! Our reception was at home.

We had a water cooler filled with wine and a beer keg. Mom made a cake, she and my sisters made sandwiches. We had quite a party! Then we found someone had put our tortoise in the bathtub and short-sheeted our bed. Adults? Kids! We headed to San Francisco for our honeymoon the next day. Happy Anniversary Darling!

*****************************************

For all of you who have bravely and gallantly served in our country's military in times of war and/or peace... this is a good video.... Thanks, Ollie Taylor, for this!

"We were treated so poorly upon our return. Angry? Yes, for a while. Fed up? Most definitely. Disappointed in America? Never.

We bear the scars that you don't see in silence for the most part, as well as those that are obvious. No on deserves to be treated as we were for service to our country. Hence, we make sure that our brothers and sisters in arms know that we love and respect them and are so thankful for their sacrifices.

I ask nothing except that Americans NEVER treat the Military with any measure of disrespect or loathing as they did in the '60's and '70's. God Bless those in uniform. God Bless America. Rick"

Yesterday was a 'goof off' day. I watered, filled bird feeders, and made the bed! Then I went to the carwash. This one is where they clean out the inside for you, etc. I was unhappy with Paradise Car Wash last time but they made up for it this time. The young man I first talked to is a Patriots fan. Yeah! We emphatized re the SuperBowl. I complained about the last car cleaning I had done there and this time it was A1~ I am a happy camper. (they put 3 guys to work on it!!!)

Today is the Jackson Co Republican Women's luncheon. Jeannie is going with me. Our speaker will be Dave Dotterrer, in full dress Marine Corps uniform, and talking about Flag Day. Colonel Dotterrer retired in January 2001 with over 27 years of service as a Marine.

On top of everything else, he's a nice guy! :o)
His lovely wife, Kerry, belongs to our JCRW.
Semper Fi Colonel!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Thursday. Ciao.
