Par-Tay! ~ Eclipse ~ Jimmy ~ Rico ~ Strawberries & Cream Day

Good 57º cloudy morning.

I know this is late today, but par-tayed last night and got home late, much to Maggie and Harley's chagrin as they were outside on the porch and Harley was NOT happy being in the dark, and I hadn't started El Blogg-O until just now. Using that laptop was frustrating, so now have a keyboard for the desktop and I'm a happy camper!

Last year on this date it was Dooms Day. Guess we skated on that one!

Today is two special birthdays.... Jimmy Duran (Sgt. LASD and academy classmate of my daughter Kristen and wife of my pal Olga!) HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMMY!!
.... and today is Richard Escalante's (Rico Suavé) birthday. Rico works at the BC Range for LASD. (a LET... Law Enforcement Tech) A friend of ours for a long time! HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICO!!!!

Historically this date.....
1881 – The American Red Cross is established by Clara Barton in Washington, D.C..

1917 – The Great Atlanta fire of 1917 causes $5.5 million in damages, destroying some 300 acres including 2,000 homes, businesses and churches, displacing about 10,000 people and leading to only fatality (due to heart attack).

1927Charles Lindbergh touches down at Le Bourget Field in Paris, completing the world's first solo nonstop flight across the Atlantic Ocean.

1932 – Bad weather forces Amelia Earhart to land in a pasture in Derry, Northern Ireland, and she thereby becomes the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

1976 – The Yuba City bus disaster occurs in Martinez, California. 29 are killed making it the deadliest road accident in U.S. history.

And births this date include...
1916 – Harold Robbins, American novelist (d. 1997)

1917Raymond Burr, Canadian actor (d. 1993)

1957 – Judge Reinhold, American actor
He never impressed me, maybe because he always seemed to play a gawky dorky dumbo. Can't imagine that is too far from his real personality!

Yesterday as I was leaving to go into town this doe was laying in the shade in my tractor shed. Her fawn was there also but my car scared the baby and he ran....
A doe and her fawn has taken up cover there for the last few years. She must be the same doe.

On my way into Grants Pass I was intrigued with the cloud formations...

I went to Staples and got a keyboard .. then off to Dee and Dales. They had their deck set up beautifully and everyone brought food and we had a great time...

Bill and Jeannie brought Chaka and she and Sami played and had a blast. Even the neighbor's pitbull mix, Macy, came up and was a sweetheart...

Sami and Chaka played so much and so hard they were both so exhausted...

Bill and Jeannie intensely peering into the valley...

.... and Jeannie and Cathy being silly...

A couple that was there, check this... Sue and Gerry! OMG. He was a Josephine Co Deputy. Dale, in a slip, introduced him as Jerry Maxwell! Jeannie said I was frozen. LOL. Nice couple. Enjoyed our gab fest.

Dee and Dale have the most spectacular cat, his name is Boogie .... all black except for his toes are white, the most beautiful coat...shiny shiny black. Big boy. A rescue. Someone probably dumped him off in the area Dee thinks. He is a love and the pictures I took didn't come out well, so will try another time!

Here is my eclipse offering...

That's it, finally. Have a good Monday. Ciao.

OMG!!! All those strawberry recipes. I am drooling all over my keyboard, now I will have to have a new one!
Boy, Bill and I were looking a bit serious there. Wouldn't you like to know what we were looking at???? The party was a blast, Dee and Dale's home is absolutely beautiful and their hospitality was so wonderful. Thanks for a lovely evening! Chaka did have the best fun, and she was one pooped dog, as we were. LOL
Off to start my Monday. Have a wonderful day, and we will chat later. xo

WOW! What a lovely home they have and a beautiful deck with a spectaular view!
Great looking table and I was amazed at all the bottles of booze sitting there! Looks like my wet bar! lol

The boys were out taking photos of the eclipse. Eric tore a piece of silver cellophane off of a fancy plant pot and we could look directly at it thru it. Amazing to me. Of course I saw white spots afterwards for awhile.:(

Glad you had an amazing par tay and glad you got your new keyboard.

Hugs, Trisha

Thank you for reminding me that I have strawberries to go with my blueberries!

That deck is visually delicious.
