Mayday ~ New TV ~ Oregon Ballot Write-Ins ~ Jackson Co Suggestions ~ Brothers & Sisters Day

Good 39º morning. Some clouds.

**************************************************

Yesterday Trish posed the question as to "where did mayday mayday come from?" Here's the answer:

Mayday is an emergency procedure word used internationally as a distress signal in voice procedure radio communications. It derives from the French venez m'aider, meaning "come help me".

It is used to signal a life-threatening emergency primarily by mariners and aviators, but in some countries local organizations such as police forces, firefighters, and transportation organizations also use the term. The call is always given three times in a row ("Mayday Mayday Mayday") to prevent mistaking it for some similar-sounding phrase under noisy conditions, and to distinguish an actual Mayday call from a message about a Mayday call.

************************************************

The DirecTV tech, Dennis, showed up at 8am. He put new cable in and un-plugged and re-plugged my mistake on the box. Another California transplant... from La Mirada... nice guy. Did a great job. To top it off he took the old TV. Yeah! And, his daughter's bf who is going in the Army shortly knows how to run a log splitter and will be calling me to come up and put the logs that were cut from the madrone and oak in the "splitting pile" and then split them. Oh boy!

So, here's the saga of the new TV....

Yesterday after Dennis left I mowed, did laundry, paid bills...all the exciting stuff that just MAKES MY DAY. Jason was here and did a bunch of weed-eating. All the places my lawn mower can't reach and along the fence where a tractor pulling a brush hog can't reach. No cooking, reruns for dinner.

S,
Love your "brother/sister" pictures! So cute!
Thanks for the info re May Day May Day and May Day. Didn't know about saying it three times.

What a great way to inform your "R" friends up near you about the ballot. So many folks call me asking for voting info! In fact, Senator Bob's office can't suggest to anyone how to vote from their office so they refer them to me! :):)

Did you tell us that you bought your new TV for the dining room? Why not the living room?

Man, has Eng. Hump. ever changed over the years! Did not know he was Indian.

XO Trisha

I have a HUGE TV in the living room, from "Paul of Big Screen" and it's fine, this one in the dining room died, or so I thought it did. Anyway, new one was inespensive at Costco and really nice. Better than the big bulky one. xo
