Jackson Co DA Bid ~ Avocado Dressing ~ Umbrella Day

Good 44º cloudy morning..

Yesterday morning...

Yesterday evening....

I knew we'd get some rain... hands hurt yesterday afternoon... and sure enough we did. Somewhere between 8 and 9pm we got drizzles. The only reason I knew is that Maggie went out to pee and came in and was damp on her coat. Rain was not measurable.

60% predicted for today. We'll see.....

Yesterday was our JCRW luncheon. Our speaker was to be Gil Gilbertson the Sheriff of Josephine County. Unfortunately there are some major budget problems within the county and he had an emergency meeting to attend. Sounds like the Sheriff's Dept will be so underfunded they will be losing most of their deputies. Not good. Since the tree huggers and out-of-line environmentalists have succeeded in stopping the lumber industry in our state, we have been in dire straits, financially. Something MUST be done! I know our Congressman Greg Walden is doing all he can. Yeah! Good to have him on our side.

Anyway.................. lunch was good ... great salad, lots of veggies, and stroganoff. Yummmm... Our speaker ended up being Rob Patridge, who is Congressman Greg Walden's district director and general counsel. He is running for Jackson County's DA position in the May elections.
He is a very well spoken and very nice young man with public experience... He's got my vote! Here are endorsements (from FOP & local and U.S. representatives) and 411:

Then it was back to RR and to the market, post office, and hardware store. Home to relax, have dinner, and fall asleep in my chair!

A good friend was celebrating yesterday ... Dan Patz (retired LASD Range Staff) and will probably don his kilt and bagpipes! (Looked for that picture and can't find it!) LOL. Kidding Dan. Hope you had a terrific celebration and Judy waited on you hand and foot!

Historically this date.....
1863 – The fire extinguisher is patented.
I have one that was Jerry's... made in the early 1900's... that looks something like this:

Between 1900 and 1920, fire grenades resembling light bulbs could be purchased with a special bracket. This bracket had a spring device and a fusible link. When the fusible link melted, the spring would cause a metal arm to shatter the grenade and release its contents into the fire. Fire grenades of this era came in a metal case, such as the Shur Stop Kit that contained six grenades.

1962 – Captured American U2 spy-plane pilot Gary Powers is exchanged for captured Soviet spy Rudolf Abel.

1981 – A fire at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel-casino kills eight and injures 198.

2005North Korea announces that it possesses nuclear weapons.

And births this date include....
1893Jimmy Durante, American actor and comedian (d. 1980)

1906Lon Chaney Jr., American actor (d. 1973)

1930 – Robert Wagner, American actor

1961 – George Stephanopoulos, American political commentator

1964Glenn Beck, American author, radio and television

This recipe from Beth who publishes Budget Bytes. She has lots of easy and yummy recipes on her web page...

Creamy Avocado Dressing

1 cup buttermilk
½ cup sour cream
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 medium avocado
⅓ bunch flat leaf parsley
1 t. minced garlic
1 medium lemon
1 t. sea salt
freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Rinse parsley well, shake off as much water as possible. Remove leaves from stems and add them to food processor along with all of the other ingredients.

Puree on high until mixture is smooth and parsley is in small pieces. Taste and adjust seasonings. Keep refrigerated for up to one week. Serve on salads, as a dip for fresh veggies or chips or as a spread on sandwiches.

All I know. Nuff said. Ciao.

Umbrella Day

An umbrella or parasol (also called a brolly, parapluie, rainshade, sunshade, gamp, or bumbershoot) is a canopy designed to protect against rain or sunlight.

Did you know: In Egypt the parasol is found in various shapes? In some instances it's depicted as a flagellum, a fan of palm leaves or colored feathers fixed on a long handle, resembling those now carried behind the Pope in processions.

This holiday celebrated the umbrella. On rainy days we are all glad the umbrella was invented. On this day you are incouraged to take a walk in the rain and enjoy your umbrella.

The tree huggers are killing your state and our state too. Environmentalists are destroying our central valley agriculture and the dumb politicians are going along with it. Can't believe all this is happening.

Ohhhh Sue,

You got me started! WHY do the environs want to ruin our country? No drilling for our own oil!! Noooo we have to buy it from the people who want to KILL us!! No oil pipe line from Canada so they will just sell it to China instead!!! Stopping the lumber industry, killing so many jobs! I would say that they just want to destroy our great nation!!
We need to elect the "right" people to get our country back!!

OK glad you had a nice luncheon and you were able to get a good speaker when the sheriff couldn't make it. I am always so glad to hear that you have some good guys up there in Oregon! We are losing hope for California even tho we have many good guys, the bad ones outnumber the good!

Well,have a good day!

Hugs, Trisha

It's sad to say, but sometimes being older we won't have to see all the horror that will go on. Trouble is our grandchildren will have to suffer with the idiots in charge and our country's demise. I pray to God we can get people who care enough in Washington to stop the nonsense and save our beloved USofA!!
