Fat Tuesday ~ Chicken Dip ~ Nationwide Gas Prices

Good 45º cloudy drizzly morning. Since yesterday we've received about 1/3" of the wet stuff.

Mardi Gras, "Fat Tuesday", is the last day of the Carnival season as it always falls the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Most visitors will plan to arrive no later than Saturday, February 18, 2012 in order to enjoy an extended weekend of festivities. Here is a live camera in downtown New Orleans...

Had some leftover chicken strips (Costco-deli case) from some soup I made night before last, so tossed them in the food processor along with a generous squirt of creamy horseradish, bacon bits, grated cheese, and mayonnaise. Pulsed and added a bit more mayo, a drizzle of olive oil, and a squirt of lemon juice along with a pinch of sea salt. Pulse until pretty 'chunky creamy'.

Makes a great healthy dip! It was lunch for me. You can also spread it on toast or bread, add lettuce, etc.

The turkeys are about to enter their 'mating season'. The hens are hanging with the Toms and the Toms are spreading their feathers for all they are worth. About 30 in the flock that has taken up residence here.....

And of course, they come close.... to pick up any birdseed dropped in the yard... this is a very young Jake....

Here is a site that was inspired by George Bachmeier. He sent me one but found this one with Canada included...

New Orleans, such a fun place! Would like to go back one day.
Dip looks really good. Never had those chips before, tasty looking.
The Golden Girls was one of my favorite shows. Still watch the reruns. Always get a chuckle.
Why is it that the Toms have to have the looks? Fluffing those feathers like that, just so wrong. LOL
Okay, off to start my day. Thanks for all the good info. Have a wonderful day, chat later. xo

You know the male species... all that is on their mind.... so they have to make a big showy splash to get our attention! LOL. The chips are from Harry and David's. YUMMMM..... They also have flax seed chips. xo

Sue,
You are just amazing! I was so surprised that you remembered today is JJ's birthday! Thank you for that. My first born is 43 today! WHERE does the time go??

Will never forget Fat Tuesday when Edda and I were in Matzatlan, Mex. Sure put a cramp in the business at Senor Frog's! Street was close and we had to do some walking to find a ride back to the ship.

One of Eric's fav comedy shows is Golden Girls so we watch it often. Love their pretty clothes.

Love seeing your turkeys!

XO Trisha
